Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

It's also possible that they were referring to S5. Also the cover with Peppa the pig is so hilarious lol.
yeah I think this is it. I think because technically there's a name change "My Hero Academia" Then "My Hero Academia Second Season" etc they're referred to as separate series while most western shows just keep "The Simpsons" as the show title no matter what season they're on.

I'm wondering what Europe will mean. I'm expecting french, but should we be expecting german too? And italian?

And would that open the doors to new incorporations in the catalog? I still haven't given up in Viz Saint Seiya in Mangaplus
I don't think that's even available in their Shonen Jump app, I think they must have lost the license since Saint Seiya (Classic along with the multitude of spin offs) is now published by Akita Shoten in Japan, and was announced in January last year to get a new reprint this summer (Which I don't think has been released).

So it's basically the same situation that happened to Shaman King and other manga like Hokuto No Ken, City Hunter and a lot of other Jump manga, Shueisha basically has nothing to do with Saint Seiya now, and to be fair 99% of the Saint Seiya franchise post 2000 has been published by Akita Shoten so it was only normal for the classic manga to be finally published by them.

I'm pretty sure those old series are 100% owned by their creators now. Many new digital relases of the tankobons omit the Jump Comics logo altogether (Sakite! Otokojuku, Taruruto Kun, The Edge). But in the case of Saint Seiya and Black Angels, the original Jump Comics versions are available digitally on the Jump Book Store, so maybe some special arrangement was done there.

Akita have the rights in Japan and Shueisha have the international ones.

Nah, they’ll announce a shitty next-gen sequel that nobody wants or cares like Burrito, all the while piggybacking on Oda’s name.

Thinking about it, Pierrot just might do the same with Bleach after the TYBW arc is done.
I doubt Oda would want that. A reboot seems far more likely and I can see One Piece getting the kai treatment. It'll probably help anime onlys get into the series too but that won't happen for an eternity lol.

Seems pretty safe to assume Kokousei already has the back of the magazine guaranteed as a place since it seems will be even shorter than Roboco and Isobe was also a shorter gag in the back, which makes me wonder what Nakama did to get this level of relation with SJ where he just come back with a series in a special place in the magazine kkkk

Also, makes me fear a bit for Roboco, i was thinking the series would be the one to get a special place in the back but i guess the manga will have a regular treatment, despite not thinking they look at it in the same level of the other series in a matter of popularity goals

Yeah, i don't think you speak for everybody when it comes to what people want or care, so please at least don't project your personal bias into others like you know what people want, that's a "shitty" attitude.

I don't think i have comments acting like i'm speaking for everybody when it comes to if they want or care about a series and so bashing the series in a unnecessary way, so nah.

It would be lame IMO if One Piece gets a sequel focused on any descendant of a straw hat, there are lots of ways they could make a sequel/spin off but I hope they don't do that..

Anyways speaking about One Piece Kai, with all the COVID breaks Oda has taken the anime is catching up to the manga, currently, it's around a year or so behind (45ish chapters) but the gap will only get shorter and shorter since Oda is taking more and more breaks (Nothing against this, just stating facts, but Oda can rest as much as he wants, he's earned it).

I don't understand why Toei doesn't start remaking the first arcs to fill these gaps and give themselves some room to breathe and make the current anime better paced, they could do one week of the remake, one week of new manga chapters or something like that, that way the anime could solve its biggest issue which is pacing.

I mean Oda just said One Piece supposedly will end in 5 more years so 7 or so years for the anime to end, if they started remaking now, that would mean 3.5 years of remade material (assuming they do 1 remake/1 new episode) which would at least cover the parts of One Piece that were non-HD (1-206 after that it was in Widescreen) and if better paced would go all the way thru Ennies Lobby I think (Volumes 1-44).

I can only assume this would be beneficial, like it could bring new viewers, old viewers would still watch the remake due to nostalgia (I haven't seen an episode of OP in like...10 years? I only read the manga, but I would watch a good paced remake).

I don't watch one piece, but if I'm correct the pacing problems have been happening for years now. Unless there is some HUGE backlash or loss of profit, I don't think they will be changing what they've been doing.

Anyway for the remake thing to even be considered, it's gains would have to outweigh all of the profit they are making currently.

OP's anime is (like any other anime basically) a glorified 20 minute commercial for people to buy merchandise of that franchise, so right now it is outweighing its costs (reportedly around $90,000 USD per episode, but I don't have a date for when this was reported, so it might be more due to inflation and stuff), so basically every episode costs $90,000 USD to make, and in sales of figures, games, licensing fees, etc that cost is recovered at the very least.

I don't see how a remake would damage the brand, since it could bring new viewers (Maybe kids, which should be the target audience, but One Piece isn't really read that much by kids in Japan nowadays from some data we have seen), so yeah I'm guessing it would be good to bring new viewers, plus I doubt it would lose its normal viewers.. But then again I'm just a random dude posting on a forum haha so I might be completely wrong.

My two cents on this, since it's bordeline off-topic: Toei just don't want to invest more in OP or Oda is being more strict with the kind of content they can add to the anime. They could make a whole mini-arc about the straw hat grand fleet but decided to put all of it into one episode.

Btw I only suggested/joked about a OP reboot after the OP anime adapts all of the manga once its finished. It was a joke but I was being slightly serious since I think Toei will go down that route knowing them lol.

If they did a remake right now, it'd take up a lot of resources and we've seen how the OP anime can be impacted in quality if they pump out those OVA/specials so you can only imagine how hard it'll be if they had to juggle a reboot at the same time. I suggest watching this informative vid on the OP anime

It is going off topic so lets end it with here

They may attract new viewers, but it will be confusing, since they will need to jump to the current arc at some point.

I mean, they can't really remade all the previous arcs, that would be too long (and old viewers will likely prefer the filler).

So, OP anime will need to jump to the current arc at some point, which could be confused for new viewers that start the anime with the remade episodes.

Ideally I would like pre-Wano One Piece to get remade in that same look and style, and then have post Wano get Dragon Ball Kai treatment. Thought that’s extremely unlikely

But I would also accept just the whole series getting Dragon Ball Kai treatment. I’m almost certain that’ll at least happen eventually. Whether it’s immediately after the One Piece anime ends or 10 years after the end. I could also see them remaking the anime for its 50th anniversary or some other landmark anniversary like 35 or 40

Either way I’m sure we’ll be seeing all kinds of One Piece reprints and collections till the end of time.
- One Piece Deluxe Edition (3-4 Volumes in one with new covers)
- One Piece Fully Colored Edition
- One Piece Fully Colored Deluxe Edition (with even more new covers)
- One Piece Deluxe Blu Ray Release

Etc.

I would absolutely love it if Toei remade the early arcs with Wano's visuals and better pacing. Unfortunately don't see it happen anytime soon (atleast not while OP is still running), but it would be fantastic.

It's quite telling to me that the anime has actually surpassed the manga in quality, if just because it doesn't have to deal with Oda's gibberish story pacing and panelling.

-My Hero Academia has had possibly its best chapter in this 2020
-No One Piece this week
-Some veterans like Haikyuu are over, so practically is just Dr.Stone
-Supposedly this week there aren't any major J+, V-Jump or SQ titles

Next week rank is going to be fun to watch

More important, with Black Clover getting the poll results next week and Kimetsu in October, only Dr.Stone is left, right?
