Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I think it's actually more common for a cover to celebrate end of arc than end of series. Hasn't end of series only happened like 3 times ever?

Series get covers (or LCPs in Kimetsu no Yaiba's case) leading to the end of the series. Haikyuu!! got it one issue before it ended, Kimetsu no Yaiba had the LCP of a group cover before the final chapter and The Promised Neverland got one two issues before the conclusion.

I mean, promised neverland and demon slayer both got similar "climax" announcements to the CSM one a couple weeks before ending IIRC. CSM isn't in nearly the same position as them though.

We will never see anything like KNY again. Or at least not in the next like 50 years or so. What they did is a once in a lifetime thing

Sad to see Yozakura so low yet again. Looking forward to the Chainsaw cover and more Burn the Witch. Also this weeks cover when that leaks.

People kept saying the same thing right until Kimetsu blew up. That no series will ever do what OP did ever again. Here we are now.
No one can predict what series will or will not blow up.

any pics for BTW second season announcement?

When exactly did the author of Kurogane and Mononofu publicly trashtalk Medaka Box and the Jump editors again? After Kurogane or after Mononofu?
before Kurogane

Happy for the CSM cover confirmed, also I’m surprised the GFC finally appearing

Tho I’m definitely not happy with Mashle being in the bottom 5 (tho not in a bad position per say, hopefully next week it recovers), as well as Magu-chan, Cop and Dolphin’s CP is even placed lower than what I would like it to be, can only imagine how it will do from now on

ChainsawMan ending was foreseeable, think I mentioned it wouldn't last long. Appears Im right. The writer just doesnt have the pacing for a long series.
You’re not right. It literally doesn’t say it’s ending, just that it’s the climax of the arc.

It just depends. Yuragi's (and Kimetsu's) last chapter was advertised as a climax (クライマックス) instead of final chapter (最終話) like Haikyuu. Jump is weird with these terms.

For CSM it's probably the climax of the arc, not the series. It's similar with Jigokuraku, people reported it as the final phase/climax of the series but it's actually the climax of the final battle, not the series (Not that there's a lot to cover after the final battle tbh)

They rarely say it's ending in the next issue preview, if they do it, they do it in the editor's note in the actual chapter. Haikyuu!! was a case of the last chapter being labeled as the last one in the preview but it only got a "climax of the great climax of the last arc" when it got the cover in that issue. (Also don't take the bait, he is luring you in).

I'm highlighting this post to address a concern.

Trolling/baiting is 100% against the rules of this website. If any of you see a user doing it (regardless of title or reputation) you are all urged to report the offending post(s).

In this thread in particular, it's gone unchecked for literally years. This will end immediately.

It is hard to see how or why CSM would continue after this, unless some new antagonist suddenly pops up which I think would ruin the writing of the series.

Sure theres all that lore people have taken out of context, but rarely does any story address every single bit of lore.

I really hope CSM doesn't end. I like this setting for showing how Denji will move forward with life. I just want Denji to find happiness, man.
Right now, it's just

I only want CSM to live long enough so that group covers have Denji as big as say Deku or Senku at least

If it lives long enough for the anime boost to kick in, then yeah it'll definitely be up there with Deku. Senku would probably get demoted then as JK and CSM would easily be bigger.

I'm sure someone will compile all the TOC data by the end of the year but I double checked to see which series topped the rankings each week:
  1. One Piece (10)
  2. Dr. Stone (9)
  3. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (9)
  4. Jujutsu Kaisen (3)
  5. My Hero Academia (2)
  6. Promised Neverland (2)
  7. Haikyuu!! (1)
Depending how the next few months play out Dr. Stone might end up with more No.1 positions than One Piece. One Piece only publishing roughly 75% of the time definitely takes a chop at its presumed lead. Did something similar happen last year (with Demon Slayer/Dr. Stone)?

Dr. Stone has been super consistent with it's placements for like the past 2 years now. It must be consistently super popular in the surveys. It would also explain why despite the lackluster growth in sales after the anime, WSJ still pushed the heck out of it. And it's finally paying off with the increasing sales.

Kimetsu got incredibly consistent 1-2 positions after it blew up. Makes sense why it got so many number 1 positions.
