Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

The interesting thing is that there is no KnY 22 reprint scheduled, imho. KnY 21 was 3mln, but also had an emergency reprint 2 days after release as well as several after that. So that might mean they're upping the print for 22 once again, perhaps significantly.
And i thought they would leave it for the final volume. Also Vol22 + SE are having stock issues in both Amazon and Rakuten.

Volume 12 was released at the end of December 2014 so it was a little bit before the anime, which started airing in early January 2015.

Can anyone repost the color pages for COP and WNL, please? I think the twitter account which posted them was suspended.

I'm quite confident this SxF volume will outperform that with very little trouble.

Soon the new bar for pre-anime series will be Spy x Family and not Assassination Classroom, or it already is

I mean. someone could say assclass is the bar for being in main magazine and SxF for online.

One has to wonder if format plays a role in success in 2020

you will have your answer soon with Kaiju #8, if it sells more than Mashle/Undead I would say the format plays a role for 2020 J+ series.
Or 2020 main magazine series just have a bad luck taking off

That 2nd fanart contest for csm made me think
Series that are about to end wouldn't do a fanart contest right? So is that an end to the ending debate?

Undead Unluck 3 is either not increasing when compared to volume 2 or they gave it a print big enough to withstand current sales, though seeing how it has been in the charts, I'm inclined to believe the former is correct. Mashle is still riding on success, all of its reprints have been going out to bookstores entirely and hopefully we'll see a bigger first week when volume 3 is released. Yozakura is still getting reprints that will go to warehouses, it does seem like they don't trust the series. And Black Clover is still getting the most random reprints out of all the magazine's current line up lol.
I think that, in Undead Unluck's case, volume 3 shows an significant improvement compared to volume 2, +40-50% first week sales I'd say (13k in 4 days vs 16k in 3 days, with 4 days it would have been around 19k, I think), and it seems to drop less in its second week compared to volume 2, but Shueisha, with the Tsugimanga Awards, decided to give it a print that's significantly bigger compared to the first 2 volumes.

It would be a logical choice, since the Tsugimanga awards gave a significant boost to the manga (the first 2 volumes sold about 10k copies each since the awards), to have Shueisha print more copies so that the 3rd volume can sell over time like the 2 first volumes, and not be out of stock while the boost is still ongoing, and only getting a reprint later when the boost will probably be less significant.

I’d guess the latter, the other magazines have had a stronger volume 1 (Cuckoos, frieren) than anything Jump has put out this year

So what’s the story on takei taking away the rights to the shaman king from shueisha?

So this part of WNL is actually called WNL:Route If? Does the volumes for this part contain this subtitle too?
Nope. Neither does the ToC.

Well, we thought they wouldn't end Kimetsu no Yaiba after giving it a popularity poll.

Here's the thing, though. A 3,000 copies increase is too little for an award boost, even if it's with a day less. It's the kind of growth you expect to happen naturally. Mashle for example went from over 15,000 copies to over 28,000 copies by Shoseki's estimations without any sort of outside promotion. Of course it had 3 days more to its first week, but even if Undead Unluck had those 3 extra days to its first week, there is no guarantee that it would sell that much, and there's the fact that volumes sell less as days pass by. But then, there's also the fact that Shoseki's estimations tend to be off when compared to Oricon, so we need to wait and see how it does there, it could be more than Shoseki's estimations or less.

I think that, when comparing Undead Unluck to Mashle, we have to take into consideration the fact that Mashle volume 1 ranked in Shoseki for weeks after its release and sold way better over time compared to Undead's volumes 1 and 2, so Mashle's volume 2 having such an improvement in sales compared to volume 1 is due to the mainstream audience who bought volume 1 over time, even weeks after it released.

If we compare it to Undead Unluck, we can see that Undead tends to drop very quickly in Shoseki compared to Mashle or even Yozakura, showing that it doesn't sell very well over time and depends more on its dedicated fanbase which buys the volumes when they release, while Mashle has more of a mainstream appeal.

The award gave Undead an opportunity to reach a wider audience, but the boost only had effect for 2 weeks (selling ~10k units per volume) before volume 3's release. Volume 3 will most likely stay in Shoseki for a longer time instead of just dropping off it after 3 weeks like the first 2 volumes since the manga is currently opening to a wider audience. I think volume 4 will be interesting to follow since we'll probably see how the award benefited Undead because volume 4 will be released 3 months after it.
