Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Perhaps it's only part 1 of the promotion because they haven't decided who's #4 yet (and I guess don't want to just BOOST 3 series).
There is probably no other series. It's "part 1" because "part 2" will involve other things than cover&lcp, like color pages or merch, but still for UU&Mashle. Just like Jump Awakening ended up only being Act-Age and JJK.

Now that the previous batch has been out for over two months what do we all think of them? Have your opinions changed and which do you predict will make the cut?
  • Ayakashi Triangle: Didn't enjoy the first chapter and I'm reading it now just because I like to keep up with the entire magazine. My least favourite of the current series running but I can't see it getting cancelled anytime soon. I think it'll stick around and fill the ecchi slot.
  • Magu-chan: Started off cute but feels a bit aimless now. With Bone Collection gone I think this has the worst art in the magazine for; it just doesn't brings out the most of the characters/setting. I reckon it'll be the first to get cancelled.
  • Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin: This was my least favourite to read for a while but the past few chapters have been a solid improvement. If it steers away from cheap boob gags and meandering one-off stories I wouldn't mind it staying. Early colour page is a decent sign as well though anything could happen.
  • Me & Roboco: Was my favourite from the beginning and still my favourite now. Glad it's had the best rankings (for two chapters at least). Was definitely written off as canon fodder by a lot of people even though it fits a good niche of appealing to all ages; big fan of its referential gags as well. in recent weeks its made me laugh the most of all the gaga manga so I can't ask for more out of it. I don't think it'll be the next Doraemon or anything but I can see (and want) a world where it does well.

Ayakashi Triangle: Easily the manga with most chances to survive, and I'm 100% seeing this surviving. Is being stable in ToC ranks, and Yabuki is providing. Only thing left is to see how volume 1 will sell. Story-wise is normal and it needs a lot of more development. I like the shark-guy ninja and Suzu friends. But it still needs a lot of more development (I think is in a similar situation to Yuuna vol.1).
Magu-chan: My favorite series from the batch, but lastly it has been losing a little fuel. I'm starting to fear it is getting the Moriking way for bottom after seeing last ToC rankings.
Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin: For some reason the manga still doesn't reach me. This manga is the main question for me: I can't picture at all if it will survive and do well, or if it will fall and be axed. Volume sales plus future Tocs will provide an answer (we have a good ToC rank, a bad ToC rank, and this week it isn't ranking because color page already).
Me and Roboco: I'm very curious about its future. I thought this was going to be the Jump big GAG in capital letters, but then Ryo Nakama came back with Kokosei Kazoku.

Hey there, this is my first post. Nice to meet you all.

I've been reading this thread for a while and decided it would be good to try and post like everyone else and stopped lurking, so I'll go with this last question.

Ayakashi Triangle: It's the only ecchi manga on the magazine so it's probably gonna survive. I just hope it has something more than fanservice so that I can get hooked.
Magu-chan: It's really cute, heartwarming and interesting, I also want a Magu-chan plushie, but not sure if it can stick with the third chapter already so low.
Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin: I like Tamura's jokes and I've enjoyed most of the chapters. It doesn't seem senseless as Hungry Marie, so I still have hope for this one.
Me and Roboco: All those references seemed a little forced to me. I get a chuckle from time to time, but it's not really my cup of tea.

Ayakashi will survive at least for a few months. It is the only ecchi at the moment and Yabuki has a dedicated fanbase, so i can see the volume sales being 30-60k for the first volume. But if the quality declines even further, it will probably get cancelled in an Enigma or Magico type of way. So it will make it past 5 volumes but everything after that, is uncertain.
Magu-chan started off strong and the reception in Japan was positive but i can see that the interest is dwindling a bit. This is def a wild card but for now, i will say that it will make it past 3 volumes but it will need to improve a bit to actually live up to its expections.
Cop will get cancelled. If not now, then in the next round.
Roboco is the clear winner in this quartet. Not the biggest fan of it personally (don't dislike it either) but it is the most positively received out of the bunch and i can see why. Will survive and i think it will be most successful gag series out of all of those that Jump has been shooting at us lately.

I think it's still too early to call Roboco a success or not, remember Bone Collection's first two placements were 4th and 5th then it just completely died.

So at least i think we will have color page on #45, cool, but little things like this is what makes me think Yozakura could reach much more if Jump would stop underestimating it so much and push more for it, fan support is there, volumes are selling and growing but they just keep underestimating lol

Anyone have those Twitter polls for Bone's first two vs. Roboco's? Maybe it'll be a better indicator in that regard.

Bone Collection

Me & Roboco

Going further Roboco is much better placed but you will always see Agravity Boys almost in the top 5 on these so...

Anyone here have a list for authors who were from Jump+ and then came to WSJ? I know of Tsutsui and from Fujimoto but I wanted to know more.

Shuhei Miyazaki (Oyakusoku no Neverland -> Me & Roboco) and Tsurun Hatomune (Mukidashi no Hakuchou -> Mitama Security).

That's all I can remember off the top of my head, but I think that's it.

Tsutsui had a series called Esprit in another magazine before Jump+, so actually came from elsewhere originally.

Out of curiosity. When School Judgement was in the magazine, was there any controversy surrounding Pine’s adult butler. The scene where he’s helping her bathe in particular

Finally got around to reading Phantom Seer. There's some obvious Shaman King and especially Muhyo & Roji inspiration, and I'd really love to see this one make it. The art is fantastic, so I'm hoping the writer he's paired with this time can hold the story up.

Gakkyuu Houtei!, you mean? I can’t recall anything of that sort, considering that was the pre-M+ era. I can’t imagine it made headlines around the manga community much, except for those who followed it. Even then, I don’t even remember anybody who followed the series mentioning it either.

Interestingly, the author of 8Kaiju apparently struck a deal with the editors that 8Kaiju will only have 3 chapters a month. That is, 3 weeks—break—3 weeks—break again.
Wish more monthly manga did this, cuz 1 chapter once a month is sooo ass to some manga cuz of the pacing of the overall story

Not only was that just a YouTuber's opinion piece (which aren't outright banned here, but are frowned upon), it was more suited for the Demon Slayer section of this website anyway.
