Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Almost all of the ranked newbies are in the bottom.

Meanwhile, it seems Roboco may be one of the few survivors or its batch. Possiblly Cop & Dolphin too if future arcs are better.

Sure. But when talking about sales, we are only talking about sales in Japan.

We hardly ever get sales statistics for anywhere outside Japan. So that conversation is moot.
Yes, you are right.
I was just trying to say that even if we reached a "saturation" for Japan already, I still believe that an anime could still be very important for the series.

Personally, I am also curious to see how they would adapt it. I think there is enough material for a season now, but it lacks of a proper climax on which they could end the season.

Magu and Dolphin seem to be on opposite spectrums. Magu is getting a lot of plaudits and fan art online but it’s been having low ranks. On the other hand, Shark doesn’t seem to have much fanfare online but it’s been doing good in the rankings compared to the other newbies. Interesting to see.

I don't see Dolphin doing as well as you guys are saying.
If you see the manga below, only Ayakashi triangle is the safest.
Agravity boys and Moriking do not have good sales, Agravity had a good start but there was no improvement.
And WnL theoretically ended in chapter 150, and is now on alternative routes.
And magu chan also doesn't have good expectations, even if he has good sales, nothing guarantees that he will improve in the second volume.
I don't want to look like hater, I even find an interesting manga but there is something better.

Just want to know your reasoning for this, why do you expect it not to do well? Just because Moriking failed in sales after getting high ranks, does not mean Cop and Dolphin will.

I know what happened to Moriking may not happen to Cop and Dolphin, but I can't think that all the June manga will survive.
Do you believe that Ayakashi, magu chan, Roboko and Cop and Dolphin will all survive?
If 2 survive it will be a lot.

I can see Ayakashi, Roboco, and Cop and Dolphin all survive tbh and Magu-Chan looks like it won't. All we have is the TOC right now, and those 3 seem like they are doing well as of now. Obviously they could totally fail, but I don't see why you assume Cop and Dolphin won't do well as of now. I'm pretty sure that it's possible that 3/4 of the batch can survive.

I'm not assuming that he won't do well.
many here are very defensive when it comes to Cop and douphin.
I just want to wait for the sales of the volumes to be sure, as I said many times.

I think it also depends on what is our definition of "surviving". Is it not falling victim to the first or second round of axe? Is it getting over 30 chapters? Is it getting over a year?
By the first definition yes, I can also see 3 series out of 4 surviving. By the second, maybe another one will fall but I can't guess which. By the third, it becomes really unpredictable at this stage.

in the end we really have to see the sales of Ayakashi in October and of the other three in November to start any real prediction game.

Wasn't trying to be defensive for the series (It's not even my favorite, I think I said it was my 2nd least favorite in Jump rn), but was curious about why you didn't think it was going to do as well as people were saying. Though I see what you mean when you want to wait for sales, but I guess we will wait and see what will happen so hopefully it will do well on the sales part.

I personally doubt that 3/4 will survive for more than 50 or 100 chapters.
Especially when you see Ayakashi alone in October and the others together in November.
shows that the jump has more expectations for Ayakashi than for the other.
If we go to see at the beginning of the year, UxU, GoTW and Mashle each were placed in a different month and in the end UxU and Mashle had better sales.

From my point of view, surviving means that a series will survive past 100 chapters. So basically, a series that doesn't survive, gets axed before it hits chapter 100. The reason I see it that way is because series that get past chapter 100 usually don't get suddenly axed in the middle of their story. The only exception to that I can think of is Psyren from what I've read here.

Also, in some cases it's already obvious before hitting chapter 100 that a series does well enough to not get axed, for example Chainsaw Man. So a series that comes to a natural conclusion without getting axed in less than 100 chapters would count for me as having survived, although it's incredibly rare for that to happen. This is just my opinion though and others might not share the same opinion.

5th place, color page next week and official twitter account starting, good week for Yozakura, i just kinda wished the color page would be on #46 because i wanted to see how the cliffhanger with Taiyo's eye power would be ranked next week, but not complaining :P

Good to see Cop and Dolphin holding outside the bottom 5, about Ayakashi, not worried at all, all newbies drop to the bottom, it's been almost a welcome ritual, Roboco will go there soon too kkkk

After last weeks, that's actually a jump for Moriking, but Magu-chan hit the absolute bottom, honestly, unless the sales are like Agravity Boys vol.1, i wouldn't be surprised to see Magu-chan being canceled in this round, it will be already with 19 chapters by issue #49 when GFC ends, it only a matter of how many series they want to start.

People are sleeping on Phantom Seer. Yes, it’s straightforward and doesn’t bring anything new to the table yet. It can even be too bland for some. However, it is competently executed, the pacing is smooth, and character interactions are entertaining that I can see it lasting enough until the author brings more interesting plots to the fold.

These early chapters are doing its purpose on establishing the characters and I’m good with that. I love the Noragami vibes it has. My fourth favorite newbie this year after Undead, Mashle, and Magu.

Depend what you mean by sleeping on, it's like here in the forum? outside it's been very well received and based on what i've been reading on Jp Twitter so far the opinions are very positive too, i said days ago that i had the impression and feeling the series is going to perform at least decently in the rankings, but you never know (Agravity Boys and Magu-chan online popularity...)

Here in the forum, seems like is being enjoyed, at least basing in our polls where the manga is doing fine, i think being a GFC winner, with a artist that failed already and being another exorcist/supernatural series maybe give some insecurity for some people, that feeling that will just flop because "it brings nothing new to the table" this was pretty much the argument about Black Clover during it beginning specially after people realised the series was a hit (but people were way too toxic about it at the time)
