These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

This week on Shoseki:

Hey, veterans can do well! Look at Burn The Witch outselling Black Clover! (Damn, does this mean 100k first week?) Look at Ayakashi outselling Mashle!

Burn The Witch shows that letting a series grow organically from a one-shot to a miniseries to now a seasonal miniseries (plus a lack of major Bleach content for years) works out better for big veterans instead of trying to over-promote the hell out of it! Also an anime - that helps as well.
Man, people are gonna use this to say Kubo is better than Kishimoto though, and I’m not looking forward to that. The Jump Twitter is a blessing and a curse sometimes.

As for Ayakashi, is this the strongest first volume start since Chainsaw Man? Being able to somewhat compete with WNL outta the gate is impressive. The real challenge is whether or not it can either grow or maintain those sales. We’ll have to see. I hear the manga’s getting better, so that’s nice.

Ah right, the reading stuff. forgot about it. Well, not like it's important but I can write about reading WT in here like once per month so better keep doing it.^^

WT: This is the good Lore stuff I'm here for, like dudes, I'm SO high on WB (Worldbuilding) right now. Ashihara really knows how to sell his stuff for an extra kick. Only thing that would have been better would have been a double dose instead of a normal one, but I think Ashihara wanted to void giving us too much of the good stuff else we get terrible withdrawal symptoms.

Kaiju No.8: Yes, more people are let into the secret! I like Kikoru, the tsundere Ojou-sama, she is ready to get dirty and do the bloody part, gotta respect that.

SxF: ...I think even Mash and Saitama would think twice before going up against Yor, like holy crap, girl, ease down!!! oO Twilight will not survive the wedding night, lol.

Exme: This for the tenth chapter of excuse me dentist, I got a way too long title to shorten down into anything that sounds cool. I like where this is going and it is funny. I usually don't like this kinda artstyle nor am i a huge fan of this sorta story but here having a socially awkward Yakuza and a sadistic dentist just works wonders. Some good shit is what this is.^^

UU: Best color page so far from Tozuka (dude is growing!) and a cool cover on top of it. I liked how Fuuko's power was not too convinient as it had been discussed last week in the UU thread, that's good, wouldn't want Fuuko's Unluck become OP af. Billy's power titles looked really cool, loved that glitch in them, reminded me of Spoil complaining about Negators being a glitch in the system. <3
The ending really makes this a 50:50 outcome, am curious to see how both Union and Under will handle this matter as right now neither side wins or lose much at the moment.

BnHA: Woha, we're tripping now on some bad shrooms here~ Looking damn cool though.

JjK: Oh god, please not another CSM, I can't handle so much suffering twice! ;A;

KnY: Liked the special chapter and the hints on the hand signs, very nice way of winning as a team even beyond the grave.

Dr.Stone: Wait... is this arc over and we are just onto our next one? Dang, this was a surprise, didn't expected it to end on that note.

BC: Not reading.

PS: Eh, I just can't get into the main characters somehow, I do like the house though, looking like a real defendable place.

CSM: Chainsaw OP, pls nerf!

OBO: I liked this candy shop center. The whole Underground thingie was a bit hyperbole but at least those blood seed got a purpose now. Still not quite sure where this series wants to go to.

Yozakura: Gondaira gone a long way with his art since Poro's diary (seriously though, what was that ponytail demon girl's name...), this Onsen part looked really good and I liked Taiyo in his supportive husbando role. Also can someone please kill the big brother? Dude is just there to ruin things and it ain't even funny!

Kokosei: So the Mom is 42, younger than her hubby, still looking like 20 (or 16 since she is in Highscool). I worry if the son gets any friends of his own or if he is stuck with his family while they have a better school life than him. At least they enjoy themselves.

Mashle: Why do we so many Nazi Wzards? Probably because of how this society works but still, you'd think people would get you cannot run a society on Elites alone even with magic. Mashle denying the laws of physic, reality and magic like always; dude is just HAMMERING his point in, lol. xD

TPN: Still think this dude should have died back then as it was once the original plan from what I remember from an interview ages ago. The despair of helplessness and determination of saving his best friends was nice though.

M&R: Really good chapter, surprised me a lot. I expected a Meico chapter (cutest Maid!!!) but got a Motsuo chapter who hadn't really been fleshed out much and goddamn did this chapter give him a lot of flesh. He is talented, hard-working, got a good and caring heart, loves his friends so much, this boy is just walking GOLD! (Meico was very cute this chapter, loved the "fml..." part from Roboco in the chat, same with the Killua's mom bot joke xD) Gotta say dude is now my 2nd fav character of this series after GachiGorilla, those two wholesome bullies are the best thing about this series! <3

HBC&D: Well, this chapter was for panty~

WNL: Cute, next chapter last chapter and then the chapter we all waited for: YuigaxsexySensei!

Moriking: Guess we are already laying the groundwork for the final arc someday in the coming months.

AT: "Badum" I liked the bromance moment between Matsuri and Ninokuru because it was born from a moment of mutal defeat, but I think Nino ain't honest about his feelings there.^^ Really like the tech girl's look, Reo looks great as an engineer ninja. Suzu, you really gotta get your mind out of the gutter, girl. It is obvious she meant "first" customer not what you think. XD

AB: Our boys are so random and depraved you have to think they know you're a spy to keep your sanity intact. ^^;

Magu-chan:
I like this little demon spawns only chapter, those three are cute and fun together. Well, first volume sales will be interesting for this series, ngl.

Looks like UU and Mashle are basically equals now
It's actually pretty cool if you consider they are literally the same age with 1 chapter difference in length.
It's nice for WSJ to have a new duo that's rivaling each other and growing.

I wonder when was the last time we had proper instant rival series.

In the whole of the 10s, we only got two hits from the same batch twice and both times the series were in totally different genres (Kimetsu no Yaiba with Yuuna, and WNL with Dr Stone).

We do see fairly often get batches where multiple of the same genre start together, we just never see both of them survive.

It's better, actually! Chainsawman did 25k in a full week, Ayakashi did probably around the same (or more) in just 3 days. Of course, it's from a veteran, so we have to see if it will keep those sales or not, but for now, that's pretty good.

Also, Moriking didn't even sell 2k. Oof. I know it's less days than the previous volume, but still, it's less than half the sales. What happened there.

Glad for Ayakashi then to do so well.

As for Moriking, this is just my assuption but I think readers simply didn't liked the premise? Like for example in Roboco&Me everyone in the world knows about and owns one or more Maidbots, so no reader questions why they are running around doing things or why Roboco is so different because her not looking and acting like a usual Maidbot is the whole point about the series. In Moriking we start off with Moriking being raised by Shota to his adult stage and become king of the world and that is supposedly only to happen every million years or so. But suddenly all humans (except Shouko) are okay with an Insectman flying around and walking on walls and holding cars in one hand, etc. without any objection whatsoever? I might be wrong but I think the disbelief was too strong for it maybe. Like it would have been better if Moriking was treated like a weird but sexy looking cosplayer who loves insecets a bit too much but actually does have to hide his powers else he alienates most humans and gets on their bad side because they fear him. I'm probably wrong but to me personally it feels like the Roboco&Me world is more consistent than the Moriking one and that is just as important for Immersion when reading as are good characters, nice art and a gripping storyline.

I guess Venerate Veterans worked out after all these years. Never forget GIA

Jump Boost looks to be paying off as well. Excited to see how much Mashle’s art improves in the cover this week just like Tozuka’s evolution.

BtW got reprinted
It was restocked*, not reprinted. Mostly meaning they got copies from the storages and restocked it in stores it was sold out. We haven't gotten any reprint notifications yet from this October batch, but if series keep selling good, we should soon. It wouldn't be weird if it was reprinted later.

Seems like WSJ judged the popularity of Burn The Witch pretty well.
There was no underprinting (so far) or overprinting.

It’s interesting that we’re seeing two (arguably three if we’re counting Cop & Dolphin) returning veteran successes after S8’s situation.

It’s almost karmic, in a way.

I think the more proper term here would be ironic rather than karmic

What makes you think Cop and dolphin will be a success?
