Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Me & Roboco's art is definitely very retro but as others have pointed out it was because it's a self referential nature and it being a gag series. Plus it's well drawn and clean despite the classic feel. Even something like High School Family, although plain and very simple, has great panelling and is very easy to read. Previews for new series rarely do them justice but based off first impressions BUILD KING has that very old aethsetic yet somehow manages to look even goofier than Roboco.

Sakamoto Days's art looks rough but from skimming over the one shot it fits very well with the tone/action of the series.

Is poetic how 2020 Jump started with a serialization round and is ending with a serialization round.

Now the only thing left is to see what will be getting issue 52 cover, that for sure WON'T be for My Hero Academia or Yozakura Family

Phantom Seer thankfully out of bottom three but it's still too close for comfort so I'm hoping the rest of the chapters are well-recieved. I hope the color page isn't boring or generic

Am I dreaming? Did I seriously wake up to Shimabu returning with a Build King serial?!

So, the universe takes away my favorite current manga (CSM) and starts up a manga from the author of my previous favorite manga (Toriko).

I see you, universe.

Imagine if CSM doesn't actually end and comes back with a sequel or prequel or something. 2020 would start looking up for you.

Ehh.... we only have 2 months left of 2020. I’d say 2021 would be more accurate at this point for @Halloween.

Another new serialization round? Alright fine I guess. Never read a Shimabu manga so I have no expectations, and that one shot for the other one looks kind of bland. We know ones taking the Act-age spot but what about the other? My guess is Moriking. Good on Seer getting a CP, but I’m more exited about Yozakura, feels like this is finally going to become a regular occurrence for the series.

BUILD KING HYPE, so glad to have Shimabu back. Its still crazy that its been 4 years since Toriko's end. An architecture battle shonen sounds like crazy fun. I hope it evolves into TTGL and adventures off into space.

Also to those complaining about Shimabu's art, its quite apparent that they haven't read Toriko. If that is the case then please give Toriko a chance. You'll open to Shimabu's retro artstyle. It has a nice charm to it.

So glad Komatsu found work as a construction worker when Toriko ended
jumping from the food industry to real estates seems risky but I appreciate the hustle
Not surprising since we had Bonchuu (Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi!) go from being a school delinquent to later becoming a gourmet hunter and changing his name to Toriko :3c

So I just reread the Build King one shot, and honestly, I feel it still holds up.

There’s a charm to Shimabu’s artwork that I hope most people are able to pick up on. Also, this could be good timing on Shimabu’s part.

I said this on discord, but I’ll repeat it here. I wonder if Animal Crossing being a massively huge success in Japan might help Build King out. I know AC isn’t just about architecture, but it is about building stuff, so maybe Japan will more be able to warm up to Build King now than in previous years.

So, after Kubo/Yabuki/shibashi coming back , what author you want to serialize in 2021?
Matsui because he is Matsui
Naoshi Komi because I don't know what will he do and I'm interested what next for him(another romcom? a spokon like the e-sport one? an action with romance?)
Kenta Shinohara because why not, Inagaki is here.

I don't mind the art at all. I'd prefer for Jump to have a wider variety of artstyles in it's lineup.

I'm still waiting for Hajime Kazu's Jump+ series.

My only complaint for the BK series preview is that MC's look like a downgrade to the MC from the oneshot. It's not too worrying since they'll more than likely get an attire upgrade lol.

The AC comparison is interesting and we'll have to see about that

Kawada would be my Number One pick for a veteran to return. Would also be nice to see Obata and Ohba coming back to the magazine after Platinum end concludes, same as Matsui and Komi.

Personally I'd like a miracle and the glorious return of Katsura or Morita, but I know there are 0% chances.

Wondering about the existence of that invisible line: you have chances of coming back to Jump if your first serialization was in 1997, but you don't have any chances if your serialization came before 1997. Imagine Midori no Makibao author coming back.

I don't know if Tsunomaru would even be able to return, considering he had 3 flops in a row after Makibao.

Hopefully Matsui returns, want to see if he can get a 3rd hit hopefully!

Also want Ryou Ishiyama to try a 3rd attempt. I thought Amagalm was fun so hopefully he can try once more and see if he can get a hit.

Resume of 2020 aka the wildest year in Jump ever:
-It started with a serialization of the "next My Hero Academia". It got axed.
-It started too with axe material. It is reaching 2nd anniversary in 5 issues.
-Nak went full gagbowl (how many gags have we had serialized this year?)
-We got 18 new series.
-Kimetsu no Yaiba went full Plus Ultra and is going to end the year with around 80 million copies sold only this year.
-Also, Kimetsu ended.
-And Haikyuu. And Neverland. And Yuuna-san.
-And We Never Learn and probably Chainsawman are going to be ending in next chapters.
-Chainsawman probably with less than 100 chapters.
-We also got another pedophile author problem. Matsuki is scum and Act-age got cancelled.
-For first time in Jump history we don't have any spokon in the roster.
-This is probably the year where My Hero Academia has had the less impact ever. And it still is going to have 6 million copies sold despite that.
-(In Spain we finally got My Hero Academia anime and movies licensed and dubbed).
-One Piece almost reached chapter 1000. Almost.
-Jujutsu Kaisen got anime and the manga has even chances to end the year in the top-5 of 2020 Oricon.
-Lost in Paradise, Night and Day are fading out.
-We got the next Jump big pillar, TPGW.
-We got that next Jump big pillar quickly axed.
-Kishimoto flopped hard and Samurai 8 was axed.
-Against all odds, Yozakura Family isn't just existing, it is doing well.
-Mashle and Undead Unluck also are doing well.
-The 30k club is back.
-HunterxHunter broke its longest hiatus record.
-We got the return of many veterans. For starters, Tite Kubo with Burn the Witch.
-Burn the Witch came as a short series, but when it ended it announced Season 2 and it seems is going to appear once in a while in next years.
-We also got the return of Yabuki, Tamura, and Nakama.
-And now 2020 year is ending with the return of Shimabukuro too.

Did I forget anything?
