There are around 2,000 copies in that picture.

EDIT: That Twitter account is now private, but this is the picture.

I thought any and all joy I could feel about the Kimetsusplosion had gone away but I was wrong, this picture cracks me up.

about 2021 predictions
I would like to add to my previous ones that I predict the artist of Ne0lation will return to WSJ, either by himself or with a different writer
there's no reason for the writer to team up with someone else for GIGA if something wasn't up

also, speaking about former GFC participants, did they say when will they announce this year's winner?

It's nice to see everyone lining up for those Magu-chan reprints from the other day
Haha that's what's happening in my mind :P

Really though I'm a little dumbfounded at how massively KnY blew up. I guess the anime really pushed it over the edge, and I'm sure both anime and manga were good, but what does it do that puts it so far above the rest? Unless it's a nostalgia thing because I've heard it's very classic shonen in structure.

Between this and rising national Covid-19 cases on a daily basis, you guys sure that’s a good thing?:SOON

(Last I checked, it was at 2000 a few weeks ago.)
Still looks to be at 2000-2500. It is a bit worrying, but at least they're wearing masks I suppose.

It basically hit a very wide range of audience, kids love it for the cool fights and the actions, adult love it for nostalgia and the soap opera drama of the characters, older people love it for the theme and the time period. It also doesn't have many things that turn casual audience away from most Shounen ( fanservice, convoluting plot and power system, complex lore,...)while the characters motivations have more universal appeal than just being the best at something. Wani focus in the emotional aspects help the series connect better to the general audiences.

Well then if that's the case then it might just support my crackpot theory that Mind Assassin (yes I've been metioning it a lot recently...what of it?) could have been a big success with the casual audience if Jump didn't axe it and it got an anime. It mostly fits many of the criteria you listed (sans time period) and I feel like it could also work as a standard J Drama, which I hear are quite popular among the Japanese populous..

Everyone just read the only 2 translated chapters to get my point..... I'm totally not shilling the series so the rest of it gets translated.....N-not at all...

Sometime you just lose. Sometime you don't blow up even with the anime (just look at Hinomaru Zumou)

If you can't convince ~2 million Jump readers to buy your work/vote for it then is it their fault?

That's really interesting, definitely not often something comes along that encapsulates all that then. Honestly sort of reminds me of White Knight in TPGW in terms of the universal appeal, though it was probably a coincidence rather than any sort of current meta commentary...maybe :V

This might've been talked about before but KnY looks lined up to be this decade's Yo-kai Watch in terms of mainstream popularity though I could easily see its peak lasting longer since it's not Level-5 at the helm. Speaking of which is Megaton Musashi supposed to get a serialization or is the collaboration with Jump purely sponsorship for the anime/toys/game? Considering how the reception for Gundam AGE was...hopefully Hino isn't writing it by himself.

Most of these ppl are around my age.... there’s still hope 🥲
the first prize winners will get published in WSJ and the second prize winners will be published in Giga

but you reckon they will actually turn any of these into a series?

it's possible, especially for the Korean and Chinese artists
but can these western comic book artist handle the weekly serialization schedule?

I don't think translating forigen manga into Japanese on weekly basis will be that hard, they can just hire a translator like the Chinese translator for Gunjou no Magmel on Jump Plus
but how will they meet with their editors works? zoom meeting?

seems like a lot of hurdles to Jump over to get into the magazine if you're not Japaneses/don't live in Japan
