Matsui is a monster, Kemono Jihen 13 did like 150k iirc and he's seemingly ahead of that on day 1

Elusive Samurai selling 100k requires them to have printed 100k. Every new decent selling series recently seems to have a low first print and require multiple reprints.

Surprised to see UU ahead of Yoza fam, it’s been consistently Low in TOC and sales actually slipped last volume while YF kept its growth

I mean I could see ES having a 100k or more first print, not only is matsui a big name but reader reception was really strong, it’s not a s8 situation where you ignore all the feedback and think name alone will sell it, heck AT vol 1 sold 65k in 4 weeks and had nowhere near the reception in TOC that ES has had

Honto is often a little different from Shoseki.

Also it being significantly ahead on the chart first day doesn't necessarily mean it'll sell a lot better, some series are very frontloaded with high initial rankings that drop quick, while others start lower but stay there for longer.

Kemono Jihen did 46k in first 4 days and did probably 70-80k within the month

It's starting above Kemono Jihen that is now a, overall, 100k+ seller, unless is just a very lucky first day is bound to cross 100k.

Undead placement is more suspicious because it's above Sousei no Onmyouij that sold over 70k in last volume while Undead #6 did 51k, hard to see UU jumping this high or SnO dropping this hard.

I think he's talking about the overall sales, vol 13 got out with 144k and volume 14 is the first one after the good boost from the anime, so will naturally start much better than the last.

All hail lord Tokiyuki, he may have lost his position in universe, but he's the new big guy in town in Jump! Great start obviously, lol at Seer being only one place lower than Yozakura.

It must be embarrassing for the person who decided to axe phantom Seer. Has there been manga from Shonen Jump that was showing progress but got canceled?

LMAOO how did this happen? Mangaka must have done some shit behind the scenes otherwise this is inexcusable

Double Arts was by Komi Naoshi (Nisekoi), it even got a cover at chapter 13 like Blue Box will get, overall the whole situation is really weird because the manga was getting higher rankings and suddenly dropped to the bottom when Naoshi started to drag the pace, and the editors didn't even waited, it just got axed fast, but personally i alway have the feeling that part of the axe was because Naoshi didn't know what to do with the big gimmick he created in the story, the "we need to hold hands 24 hours" was too complicated to develop

Double Arts hit the bottom 4 for a few issues in a row at a time with a very competitive lineup which was enough to die back then, here's the ToC for its final issue
  • One Piece Ch. 513 (Lucci Cover Story)
  • Bleach Ch. 324
  • Naruto Ch. 415
  • Inumarudashii Ch. 3
  • Katekyō Hitman Reborn! Ch. 208
  • Bakuman. Ch. 4
  • Toriko Ch. 16
  • D.Gray-man Ch. 171
  • Eyeshield 21 Ch. 296
  • Kochikame Ch. 1567
  • Nurarihyon no Mago Ch. 25
  • Sket Dance Ch. 56
  • Kurogane
  • To Love-Ru Ch. 115
  • Psyren Ch. 37
  • Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro Ch. 172
  • Bari Haken Ch. 24
  • Double Arts Ch. 23
  • Pyu to Fuku! Jaguar Ch. 344
notice that every other series in that ToC either was going strong with over 100 chapters or would eventually become that long, the only other early cancellation is Bari Haken which ended in the next batch. I don't know why Bari got longer than Double Arts though, it was dead last for every ToC afterwards until it ended so it clearly had no hope for success.

An extra fun fact is that Double Arts' direct replacement was Chagecha, infamous for being the earliest cancellation in WSJ history.

Word has it Chagecha wasn't even formally cancelled. Sawai just quit after it was clear he wasn't getting anywhere insofar as reception.

I'm curious how the content for Agravity Boys' last two volumes is divided, it doesn't have nearly enough chapters to fill out a whole 7th volume. My guess would be v6 being maybe 6 chapters + a oneshot, then v 7 being 50, 51, the epilogue, maybe an extra bonus chapter, and then another oneshot?
