Google translate tends to be pretty inaccurate.... just try translating something from japanese to english.... You can't understand anything sometimes

Well im sure theyd fix it up at Sheuisha if you asked, im sure it was in this forum or another that the serialized mangaka's hand writes the text and then the editor puts it through on the computer, im sure they take the Jump Treasure contestents seriously. Im gonna get better at drawing and submit something next year when Takeshi Obata and\or Tsugumi Ohba (Bakuman & DeathNote) are judging again they've judged twice around this time within 2 years, Theyre geniuses so its probably raising the bar.

It tells you if theyve put it in Akamaru Jump but they say On Red Mal, and its mainly put On Web which you can read them, if you want a link to them ill post one but theyre in Japanese but the drawings are good to look at and theyre numbered and put in year groups.

Please don't use Google Translate for your manga... They'd have no idea what's going on in your story.

May i ask how your assume they wont know what youve written about the story. Like Booba Said "How do you know", if you read Japanese thats a different story and should say but if you don't then you cant be 100% sure it being impossible to read.

It's true Google translations isn't at all accurate, i can't tell you if its any good from English to Japanese but Japanese to English is pretty good, i translate whole websites with it like in my previous wikipedia link, so i say as a last option give it a shot, but if theres a second alternative consider whats better, ive been trying to think of ways to translate, fortunatly at my school i have a Japanese Language teacher and a friend who studied it but not everyone has that. Oh how about people that translate manga online like for Bakuman it was done by Saladesu from Muda Scantrad, It's just an idea, Im sure there's a few translators on the net willing to help.

Eh, seems like I wasn't the only one glad to hear that the JTNAP takes submissions from other countries. Anyhow, they still want it in Japanese. I think it's best to start learning Japanese then asking others for help, because you'll eventually need to learn how to speak Japanese if you really want to get serialized or anything. But that's only if you're aiming for that though, if you only want to submit something to see how far you can get with your manga at your current level, then it should be okay.

We may have lost in this competition, but we don't stop here. We are planning to send our one-shot to the Morning International Comic Competition held by Kodansha INC.http://morningmanga.com/micc/rule_e.html

This contest is in an international scale and according to the rules of the contest the text of the story can be in English. So there will be no problems there. We may present two or three pages (but without text) from our oneshot in the near future. Unfortunatelly the results of this contest will be announced in December of 2011. Until then, we can not reveal the full manga.

On another note our artist has made a fan art pic with the characters of RuN portrayed as Japanese Red Cross Society Members in order to support and promote the cause of Red Cross. You can view it here:

So is the Weekly Shonen Jump treasure contest still going? I thought I read that it was monthly...???
I only just discovered it today and it sounds awesome I'm guessing it's for one-shots only? I have such a problem keeping it to that amount of pages >_< but it's worth a try! It has to be in japanese though? Getting the translation would be easy for me but then I'd have to typeset and I'd be worried if I messed up the line order of the kanji at all to fit the space the meaning may be altered...but then I'm researching that I guess for future projects

The Morning International Comic Competition sounds really good too! I presume both would need to be formatted right to left..?


Booba you don't enjoy inking? That's one of my favourite parts! (That is when i haven't broken or wasted all my pens and stop being so perfectionist )

Wow, it's nice to see other people are trying! I'm not entering until I've reworked my story as best as it can be, improve my techniques, and get that extra money for supplies. If I'm going to pay all that money on shipping and supplies, then I want to put everything I have into it and then some. hopefully I'll be ready for December or February.
And for those who actually sent in an entry, how much did you pay in shipping?
I know this thread has been inactive but, as for people who are worried about the translating into Japanese factor, why not try learning it? This is a great place to start, http://ww8.tiki.ne.jp/~tmath/home/index.htm learn all of the lessons and you'll have pretty much all of the basics down pack.
The next step would be here, http://www.lang-8.com/ You can post your script online and have someone correct any mistakes. In exchange, just correct some of their entries, it's a wonderful alternative to having it professionally translated and it's also a great way to learn and make friends.
Don't worry, if you study hard and write it as best as you can; then they'll be able to make it sound more natural and help you with wording certain things.

Trust me, it's way smarter and safer than using Googles translate (when I started, googles translate was crap and well still is, but they sometimes get small things right.) and it's done wonders for my Japanese in the months that I've been studying.

Erm, if I went completely off topic then I'm sorry!

One more thing for people who have/are going to enter in the near future, how do you plan on placing your text?

Hey guys, I don't know if you are aware about Sasaki hisashi twitter(ex editor in chief of jump) but he once talked about this contest and it's rules.
First of all it absolutely has to be in japanese and he also said that even though it's possible for a foreigner too win if it's in Japanese, he considers it impossible to assign the winner an editor if he isn't living in japan...
It's quite a shame that jump doesn't seem to be much open minded about this,since with Internet and all nowadays it's quite possible to communicate with anyone all over the world, making manga wouldn't be much different...
