Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.2

If Akaboshi got axed, is there any chance that Akaboshi going to re-serialized again, like Rising Impact, The Outer Zone, and BØY?
Well, it's not impossible, but I know people who waits Double Arts re-serialization until today, if you know what I mean...

Why was a One Piece rumor posted here and not in the One Piece section? Please do not respond to them in this thread. Feel free to start a thread in the One Piece section to discuss any rumors about One Piece. BTW: A source is always nice.

Does anyone knows the reason for re-serialization for Rising Impact, The Outer Zone, and BØY?

Does anybody have the specific post where this is mentioned?

I looked over in the Op section and didn't find it.

No, i don't know if it ever will. Double Arts while popular in the internet, it's not that popular in Japan, at least that's what I know.
And speaking of Akaboshi, trust me it's popularity is even less than Double Arts which manage to rank high first but fails after that. If Double Arts which is more popular than Akaboshi still doesn't get re-serialize, it's almost impossible that Akaboshi will ever get that.

Does Rising Impact, The Outer Zone, and BØY are popular before they are axed in first time?

And does anyone knows the ranking for Rising Impact, The Outer Zone, and BØY before they got axed?

Also, does anyone knows the reason of re-serialization for Rising Impact, The Outer Zone, and BØY?

I don't know about ranking, but BØY vol.4 did sold 800,000 copies.

Was the original BØY even canceled or was volume 1 just a prologue volume? I'm guessing it was a bit like Dogs, the title of the manga changed after volume 1 to designate the beginning of the actual plot.

And why even discuss re - serialization? When was the last time that happened?

A long time ago apparently. Since 2000, no manga ini Jump has ever been re-serialized. Can people be a bit realistic about their expectation? I like Akaboshi, but it's not like it's groundbreaking or expand Jump's fanbase. It's not the only good series out there, there's not one fucking reason for Jump to protect it.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.2

Shaman King was the closest to being re-serialized. Takei had hinted in France that SK could be coming back with mention at the time of Jump SQ. My guess was that it was saved as a "last resort" if JumpSQ didn't sell as well as they hoped, and we know how that turned out.

Of course, in the end it got it's own kanzenban editions, with basically 2 full volumes of new chapters, and then another (unannouced until the end) fanbook on top of that. Then on top of all of that, a sequel appears likely.

Maybe it's just Hiroyuki Takei, but I think Shueisha is more likely to try new things. Such as giving more flexablilty with the volume releases. The Shaman King: Kang Zeng Bang are much nicer, but much higher price point. In the long run, it makes them more money, even if they sell less books.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.2

Shaman king is a high selling series with a circulation of about 22 million, so I'm not surprised. And yeah, I agree with Kang Zeng Bang being a bigger money maker even if it sold less.
If a high selling series got cancel, there's a big chance for re-serialization. But Akaboshi doesn't even have one volume yet and it's already not popular. Don't expect any kindness from Jump.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.2

First of all: Naruto that week was essentially the epilogue of the whole arc so I sort of figured that is why it beat OP that week.

Second...aside Toriko and Bakuman, it's a very, very strange list this time around with some shuffling in the bottom half and several unconventionals (KochiKame, Sket, Inumaru) out of the running. Not bad or good, just unconventional.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.2

Naruto beat One Piece this time around. And Bleach seems to be rounding out the top 5 again.

Nice to see Toriko back in the top 5. Reborn appears to be recovering from the borderline snorefest of the Melone Base attack and the initial Varia chapters.

Both Bakuman and Gintama break their trend from the past couple of weeks and land in the middle of the mag.

Psyren's ranking isn't bad but Beelzebub is a bit lower than its earlier chapters as of late.

Outside of Mago and Medaka's bottom 5 positions, it is a pretty good week.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.2

A pretty good TOC with the exception of Mago, Psyren and Beelze dropping. With Mago getting color, I only need to hope the other two can rise up. With Sket Drama CD being released on October and Mago having just been announced, I think we can expect their popularity and profile rising.
