Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

I don't think that's it, I mean Naruto also got postponed, volume 47 was released on August, but volume 48 will be release on November. So does Bakuman. I think they just release it whenever they want

well in naruto's case it was because of the artbook!
in the month where the volume was supposed to be released, the artbook came out,so they released it one month later and now they release it only two months later,so they can get back to their old rythm

2009 Issue 40 and 39

Here are the last 2 issues I have at this moment from this year. Moving backwards, issue 40 and 39. Enjoy~

Issue 40

Issue 39

New Thread!! I've opened a Weekly Shonen Jump Cover and Color Page Archive to keep track of back issues. Any one looking for old covers please check there! From now, please do not request old covers in this thread. I will carry over covers as they are posted to the opening post just as I do in this thread. I will move all of the 2009 covers out of this thread when issue 1, 2010 comes out.
Omfg~ Great idea!! Now someone just needs to make a website so we can host pictures bigger than 3 MBs... I'll post what I have of my 1996 scans soon~ :tem

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

I wonder if there's any reason why psyren's volume selling are always postponed to some other manga

eg:
mago 8 (currently at chapter 76) in december
toriko 7 (currently at chapter 66) in december
psyren 8 (currently at chapter 88) in november

-> so my guess: mago's and toriko's better selling rates must be the reason, no?
Mago and Toriko do sell better. Mago came out shortly after Psyren so they should be pretty close in number of volume. I think Mago was given a sped up (two months between) release last spring for some reason. Toriko had two volumes come out at once otherwise it would be two behind Psyren. I'm not sure how much popularity has to do with it.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

First one is "Mikakunin Shonen Gedo" by the author of Jigoku Sensei Nube. It got axed, but still managed to last five volumes. The second is "Muteki Tekki Spin-chan" by Amon Dai. Got axed pretty quickly. No idea about the third.

[xi0]Actually, Gedou was only from the artist of Nube.[/xi0]
Do I hear the words Amon Dai? For what it's worth Muteki Tekki Spin-chan is great from all i've seen. But then I love Taizo so perhaps I'm just a fan of the mangaka

Akaboshi and Mago's covers are just plain awesome :tem

Reborn's is also good, surprisingly. Eyeshield gets a pretty good cover for its last one, I'm pleased. And Medaka's is just....eh.

Mago is number 3 eh? That is quite a nice jump for it. I'm happy it even managed to beat out Bleach.

Toriko's and Bakuman's are pretty good too.

I'd love to switch Wajimania and Kuroko for either Sket, Beelzebub, or Medaka's spots in the bottom 5.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

Ranked list would be this, I think, if I remember all the rules right:

1. Naruto
2. One Piece
3. Mago
4. Bleach
5. Inumaru
6. Bakuman
7. Toriko
8. Kuroko
9. Wajimania
10. Gintama
11. Beelzebub
12. Sket Dance
13. Medaka
14. Akaboshi
15. Kagijin

Not much to comment on besides Mago is really high, for whatever reason. Naruto is ahead of OP for whatever reason... Bakuman is high this week and Gintama is low, but they both spin all over the place. Kuroko still fairly high, at the half way point. Seems it's doing ok now, though it tends to go down to the bottom few. Toriko's still like 7th rather than 4th-3rd like it had been a little while ago but they're currently in a side arc/ beginning of a main arc, still.
Wajimania isn't high or low, but it certainly doesn't seem to be failing. Still too early to really tell where the other new series are.

And Bleach isn't really going down at all, but it has enough of a fanbse with the anime and all to kinda be proof to even lowering much at all.

It's been a while since Toriko was auto - top five. I'll forgive Jump readers. I'm getting used to the middle being volatile.

Inumaru for whatever reason always gets that high, like the 5-7 range, with a few exceptions. Which is why I've been planning to translate it but Noodles keeps... not scanning the volumes and now V3 is coming out. Plus it's a gag manga so a lot of stuff needs to be looked up. I might try to get to doing a few more soon.

I can not understand how naruto can beat one piece nowadays. I have never understood it when it happened now and then :)

Anyway, there's only 3 consistent top series: one piece, naruto and bleach. Toriko, Beelzebub, Gintama and even reborn sometimes fall down out of the top. Anyway, mago deserves to be rated high and I hope with current arc a consistency for that manga will be fact

Well the chapter rated would have been one of the Kage summit meetings which included Gaara and the new Kages and Gaara is pretty popular so...though One Piece was going through some pretty epic chapters, maybe editor influence.
