Man, I need to catch up on what the heck is still publishing in this magazine. I feel like there's a new series almost every single week lol. I feel like there's a bunch of series I don't even recognize in this TOC or only know by name. Do any of these new series seem like they stand a chance of lasting any real duration of time?

Currently serialized by the Issue year they started in (Terra Formars is on hiatus and there are 2 upcoming series yet to come). Yeah they are too newbie fronted imo.

2015: Bungo (started in 2014 calendar year), Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu
2016: Black Night Parade (irregular serialization), Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai

2018: Dorokei, Batuque, Good Job, Tiempo, Akechi, Shadows House, Kaguya-sama wa Kataritai, Satsujin Muzai, Libidors, Maid in Hikkomuse, Who I Am (I believe this one is monthly?)

Love, love the Shikabana's art! Hoping this starts off well so it could stabilize itself in the magazine and get scanlated.

They will have to axe more manga here, they already have 24 (with Pochi replacing Hana Matsu and Real replacing Rikudou) as is! Probably Akechi and one of the Satsujin Muzai or Douji Gunkan.

The magazine was always quick to axe series but it seems like it got worse after Tokyo Ghoul ended. Maybe they're desperately trying to find a series that can fill the hole it left because they can't rely on Kingdom all the time. Terra Formars is in hiatus too.

They are trying to apply the WSJ model to WYJ, but the problem is that
1) 24 series at the same time is a lot
2) Sadly, they lack the pre 2018 strength WSJ has. It is literally those 6-7 manga from that period (Kingdom, Real, Terra Formars, Golden Kamuy, Kaguya, Ginga Eiyuu, Bungo) and the rest. At this point their most successful newbie from 2018 and 19 may be Kaguya-sama wa Kataritai lmao.

Considering with upcoming newbies in few weeks they will have launched whole 8 newbies in 2019 and it's just freaking May. Panic mode imo.

That's insane, plus there's 2 new series starting in issues 26 and 27, plus that other comedian series coming back. They're really quick to move series to the chopping/transfer block in WYJ. I'm still pretty surprised they moved Kunoichi 2 and Diner to their web app since they were selling better than many of the newbies that came after them

Nice! On the other side, this could have been expected because the author of Himouto! Umaru-chan (lasted 12 volumes and 4 years in WYJ) is behind the manga.

It's nice that Maid in Hikkomuse is off to a solid start, but man when the only series doing out and out *well* are the ones I'm not reading then the magazine's definitely leaving me behind. Gonna be glad to switch to volumes only once Rikudo is done.

Although it's not as good as Umaru, I'm still enjoying this new series and am glad to see it's off to a solid start. Hopefully this will be a series that doesn't immediately get transferred elsewhere like what seems to be happening to all the other newbies

From 2017 newbies only Snack Basue survived, and it may not even survive this year lol. From 2018 newbies for now, Dorokei is long past it's first anniversary now in the magazine (despite the low-ish sales, it's polling well enough to stay alive I guess). Also Good Job (thought Vol 2 seems to be selling awful so who knows) and Batuque are nearing their first anniversaries as well, though Batuque is a follow-up work of a Usogui mangaka so that was expected to happen. Damn.

Yeah, the chronological gap in the currently-running series is pretty insane. Plus, there's a huge disparity between veteran and newbie sales. You'd hope at least a couple of the newer series would at least be beginning to approach the level of its veterans. But thankfully, the veterans are still selling extremely well (Kingdom, Kaguya, Golden, Minamoto, etc)
