Re: Where do you come from? - discussion

Went I want to relax I go to the beach at night, since it's like 4 blocks away from my house.
I like the sound of the waves and the stars.
Another place I love is Machu Picchu... It has something special.
Cajamarca it's very relaxing too.

We should open the “Manga Helpers Travel & Tour Guide Agency” thread.
I would do it, but I'm posting from my Wii and it's kind of hard.

Well, if you guys are coming to Jakarta, do let me know. I'll be glad to accompany you guys around the town. We'll ride like true Jakartans, using a bus, and you'll experienced the one and only traffic jam that made you wish you had a gun in your hand for whomever started that traffic jam. Then, we'll taste the most awesomest jakarta's culinary underworld and this time, you'll wish you had a bigger stomach to gobble up all those awesome food. Then we'll get drunk and get arrested.:D

The beaches in Lima aren't great and the sand it's kind of rough, not like in the caribbean, but still... I like to go at night and lay down in the sand, listening to the sea ant looking at the satrs and just not think and relax.

Well, for you to know the variety of the Jakarta's culinary underworld you must be willing to endure hours after hours of getting on and off a bus with me. :D
As for the traffic jam, let's hope the new governor can do something about it. :D

Oh, i've been to Bandung several times and every time i tried different food. Most are awesome, only some are so-so and a small percentage is regrettable (both for the price and taste). :D

You haven't met the traffic jams in the center of Lima at rush hour... you can get old waiting to get out of there.

If you're goig to talk about food you HAVE to visit Pero... I mean it. It's one of the best places for gratonomical tourism. The food here is awesome. It has influences of spanish, italian, chinese, african, and japanese cuisine... We were an spanish colony, and a lot of time ago we had a lot of Italian, Chinese and Japanese inmigrants. And the africans were slaves. So.... everybody contributed in some part to our gastronomy. And ofcourse... influence from the Andes, the Incas and the people from the Amazon Rain Forest.
As you can see we have a LOT of variety.
(I'm such a Peru fanboy hahaha)

So what is Peru's traditional food??

Yes... every tourist I've met have gained weight while being here. But trust me... it's worth it.

Traditional food? We hace a lot of typical dishes.
Since we have coast (the north coast with hot water and the center and south coast with cold water), the Andes (that has different altitudes) and the Amazonan Rain Forest we have a lot of ingredients (over a thousand types of potatoe for instance), weathers, altitudes, people, etc. Even the same ingredient can be different in each region, for example, a potatoe from the northern Ades can be different than a potatoe from the southern andes. So, we don't have a traditional food. Each region has it's tradions and gastromy.
Althugh a common ingredient in a lot of typical dishes is rice... at least in the food from the coast and the Andes.
In the coast we use a lot of seafood, meat(basiclly cow, chicken or goat), rice, some cereals, some beans and some tuber (basiclly potatoe), vegetables, etc.
In the Andes they use a lot of cereals and tubers, a lot beans, meat from small rodents and Alpacas... this can be fresh or dried meat, some vegetables, etc.
In the Amazon Rain Forest they use fruits, meat (from cow and another small mammals to reptiles), river fishes, etc.
This is only a small parte of what we use.

I'm going to mention some dishes... but I'm going to do it in spanish, because I don't know how to translate them.

-Ceviche: Pieces of raw fish marinated with lemmon and hot chili. Served with onion, sweet potatoe
-Aji de Gallina: chicken with a spicy sauce. Served with potatoe, rice and a bolied egg
-Papa a la Huancaina: Potatoes with a spicy sauce. Served with lettuce, maybe an olive and a boiled egg.
-Rocoto relleno: A big red hot chili stuffed with meat, egg, onions
-Pachamanca: Different kinds of meat, beans, tubers cooked dring a long time buried with hot stones.
-Lomo Saltado: Sauteed beef, with onions, french fries and rice.
-Tamales: i really don't how to make a tamal
-Tacacho con Cecina: A ball of mashed bananas with pork grease. Served with fried dried pork meat.

I can't remember a lot of dishes now... I just like to eat them hahaha.
One day I want to travel all around Peru eating.
