If I got to choose which devil fruit to eat and knew the abilities of each available devil fruits, I would want the Yami Yami no mi (Darkness Darkness fruit). To be honest, long before One Piece, ever since I was small I have always wanted those abilities, so I understand exactly why Blackbeard killed to get it.
First, I wanted to say that not being able to absorb attacks as a Logia is not a setback in the world of One Piece because anyone that knows how to use haki of the color of armament would be able to get around that easily anyways. And I suppose there would be a lot of them in the new world.
Second, there are abilities of the Yami Yami fruit that has not been shown yet, and I would hope they will be shown with more detail in the future. Since the Yami Yami ability is the power of gravity, let me expand more fully on what that implies: According Einstein's theories of relativity and special relativity, there are such things as mass dilation, time dilation, and length contraction that takes place in a gravitational field. It's because of these effects that weird things happen near black holes and other quantum singularities (Kurouzu). You don't just get to suck things in with "Black Hole", but when you do, its length shrinks to zero (things dissapear), and its mass increases to infinity, and time stops. "Liberation" is the opposite which is the same effect as the white hole: It undoes what the "Black Hole" does.
The most important reason I wanted this ability is because of the time manipulation. It can indirectly affect a region in the same way the Noro Noro beam slows things down, as controlling gravity would also mean the indirect ability to control time. Of course, you cannot travel back and forth in time, but you can shrink and stretch it, and if used properly, can be used to avoid any kind of attack (kind of the same way as Barrigan in Bleach did by aging), and it would be virtually impossible for anyone to avoid your attacks, even if they were moving at the speed of light. Pika Pika no Mi isn't the only one that can add weight to its attack. The reason "Light is weight" is because of the indirect effects of gravity on matter and energy (I'd rather not explain this in detail right now). But anyways I hope all this stuff makes sense.

...also i like jozu DF to make your body as hard as diamonds is pretty nice and i love the appereance as well ^_^
