A Battle Royale MMO would be cool.
You join hosted games along with a set designated number of people chosen by the host (20/40/60/etc). Once enough people enter the group, the game starts. Like all the versions of the story, you start off with a random weapon, ranging from something strong and protective, to something weak and irrelevant. You also get a water bottle and some bread, but there will be a fatigue meter, and you have to make sure it stays at a certain level, or else your character starts getting weaker and weaker, and it shows in his/her movement, reflexes, et cetera. Once you get hurt, you can never recover to full health. You can slowly recover some health as you rest up, but you will never be able to be at full strength.
Basically, from there, things follow through like the story. You're on a generated island, there will be a few places to hide, forests, clinic, et cetera. There will be designated zones that will be changed to Danger Zones (possibly at 15 minute intervals) and if you're caught in them, your collar explodes. The game will last for a maximum of three hours, with each half hour being like half a day. Once three hours have been reached, the collars will explode and there will be no winner.
You can form alliances if you chose to, but unlike the story and its incarnations, only one person can win. If I were more creative, I could try to think of a way that allows for a random game, or something, to allow a path where two people could beat the system.
