I've seen a theory that the guy saying 'they're like Yin and Yang' is Zeno, and the one saying he's an idiot is Maha. It obviously wouldn't make sense for both of the speaker to be Zeno, and I really doubt a random reporter is supposed to have any clue about these legendary figures to make any kind of assumptions. My take is that Zeno says 'yeah they (Maha and Netero) are like yin and yang", and Maha scolds him for being an idiot as that'd imply they're equal when they're clearly not.

It can't be Maha. Zeno says that Netero is "the only human to have ever fought my grandpa and lived to tell about it." If Maha was present, Zeno would have said Netero was "the only human to have ever fought you and lived to tell about it." Also, since Maha and Netero fought in the past, Zeno wouldn't have to tell Maha so much about him.

I think he is talking to Silva, as Silva was present at this time in the arc. Kind of like Father explaining to son about his friend.
Also does anyone else notice similarity of Gon and Killua with Netero and Zeno?

hello I correct myself if maha was the person zeno was talking about when speaking about who fought netero then that guy is maha. I don't have the jap version of that page so I can't be sure zeno is saying my grandpa instead my old man or even my brother... I've seen lot of mistakes from those translations... like pitoh is male or even killua's sisters...

and reading the hunter book (in japanese) I found out that zeno is not silver's father but silver's father's brother :O....
also it says that maha is zeno's father not his grandpa. And it says that zeno's wife is lost or trapped the same way than alluka was. Also maha's wife is dead.

damn in other page of the hunter guide it says the family is composed of great gandpa, grandpa, grandma, father, mother and 5 children. all alive.

so probably zeno is silver's father ...

There is a lot of errors in the databook. I remember Alluka was a Manipulator in it and it's the main reason people think Netero is an Enhancer, when I think about it I find even hard to believe that Zeno is a Transmuter. This is why I would have really appreciated Hunterpedia for the CA arc in the anime.

The databook is obviously approved by Togashi, and I see nothing wrong with their general direction. People guessed Leorio ought to be an Emission user prior to him disappearing for 10 years. I'm sure if you confronted Togashi and demand him to put a type for Leorio 10 years ago he'd say 'Emission' too, because it makes sense. If he changed his mind after Leorio reappaers 10 years later he's certainly got the right to. When you have people like Pitou (definitely Specialization) fights basically hand-to-hand like a Reinforcement user the entire time, your starting school is fairly irrelevent. If people have to stick to their schools, then you get the conclusion that Reinforcement users always win. The "Reinforcement always wins" paradigm probably ended around GI. Otherwise a character like Pitou is simply impossible, who fights in a way that is completely the opposite of his school's strength. Under the 'must stick to your school' design, Pitou would be someone who gets one hit killed by Kite and Kite would say a comment like: "He was a formidable opponent but used the wrong school of moves."

Well at least he is not a Transmuter, a Manipulator, a Conjurer or an Emitter. It was understandable to think he was an Enhancer before his fight against Netero. But his powers after this show that he is a Specialist.

you are wrong... hisoka and netero are the only two characters shown to have the ability to use their fingers as some kind of binocular which tells them the location and the ability of the enemy without using "en" or even be discovered by the enemy.
we only see these two characters with this technique.

also the only time netero used this technique he said pito was stronger than him and the other two weaklings that were with him were just clueless about pito's power and said some stupid things. Making these two weaklings just pretty weak hunters. (as shown later when novu actually got close to one of the kings guard)

this means netero and hisoka have some kind of technique to know people's strengths and it's pretty fucking accurate.
also the fact that only these two character have that technique makes them related somehow probably the same school or even netero was hisoka's teacher somehow.
