I just thought about him also.. Picture yourself him with a cap on and it's actually quite similar, especially at some points in The Seven Samurai.

See thats what I am not liking too much. His most famous role is 7 samurai, and I am a bit against OP having another bad ass samurai.

If he is a samurai and an Admiral he should be one of the best if not the best, but we already know Mihawk is the best samurai.

Well the only movies I've seen starring him are the Kurosawa movies Seven Samurai, Rashomon and Yojimbo, all in which he plays a samurai. That does not mean that Akainu has to be one though, right?

He doesnt HAVE to but if Oda is deriving heavily from those inspirations I doubt he would leave that out.

But hey the Admirals could all have different fighting abilities, Aokiji having a highly trained DF, while Kizaru is an expert martial artist and has mastered Rokushiki, and Akainu is a swordsman. That would pretty much cover the bases.

Unless of course they cover the three types of DF, Aokiji having a logia while the other two have the others. If Rokushiki users are stronger while in animal form then Kizaru could have a Zoan DF, leaving Akainu with a paramecia. But who knows.

Whats he from? Remember we cant just go searching for someone who looks like what we have seen of Akainu so far. The person needs to have some meaning to Oda.

He once played the 'sensei' in "maskman" its a live action, predecessor of power ranger.
He also has a cameo in Takeshi's castle.
Famous around the late 80s-early 90s.

seriously, mifune would be awesome, in movies like 7samurai, Yojimbo and Rashomon he was badass.

i dont think oda will use korusawa coz he was a director not an actor.

so mifune would be really uber. a sword fighting admiral for zorro to take on. maybe he could work a bit like Kenpachi from Bleach.

just a quick question. I read somewhere that Yusaku Matsuda (Aokiji) has already passed away. has Kunie Tanaka too or is he still alive? coz I think that Oda took the characters as to commemorate the person. like not to be forgotten or something. just a thought coz we might have to think for actors that has already passed away. sorry, I don't know much about veteran japanese actors

No Tanaka is nearly 76 years old, he is still acting in films as well.

The problem I have with Mifune being Akainu is that Akainu would most certainly be a swordsman, and we already know the worlds greatest swordsman is Mihawk. So does that mean that Mihawk is stronger than one of the Admirals, certainly would imply that?

There's different ways to measure strength. So long as Mihawk doesn't interfere directly with the Marine's mission, then perhaps, because of Akainu's thought process, he sees no need to fight a frivolous battle for "strength"

Absolute Justice would instead worry about efficiency, strength coming as an after effect.

Which actor will Akainu homage?

We've seen both Aokiji and Kizaru homaging two famous japanese actors and to an extent having Devil fruit powers that represented some sorts of past movies or actitude of them. Yusaku Matsuda in Aokiji's case and Kunie Tanaka in Kizaru's case.

I believe that Akainu shall homage the great, the biggest badass in all japanese movie film the grand Toshiro Mifune. I mean we know Akainu is a total zealot of the Zettai Seigi and as such he is a very angerful character, also Aka (Red) might indicate some of his mood being fiery and easy to anger much like most of Toshiro's character in Akira Kurosawa's mvoies. What ya think?

Anyways, I have further evidence to corroborate my guess. In 7 Samurai, Mifune portrayed Kikuchiyo, a man who despite not being Samurai (let's say Tenryubito in this case) defended their ideals and strict code of honor with vehemence (One Piece's Absolute Justice), also Kikuchiyo was a very brash and rude chaarcter, and had a very feisty personalaty (Again can correspond to the color red.)

What´s with Kakihara from "Ichi the killer" in this. He is a really sadistic killer who is often red dressen.
