Yes, they ate Zoan DFs which gave them life. Both Mr4 and Spandam then had to order them to use their respective abilities (shooting those balls and turning into a sword/elephant). How do you want to order an object to use an ability which does not have neither a conscious nor a life?

And besides usopp is a main character, I don't recall anyone by the name pandaman, and I've read the series more the once, if i don't know who that is, must be someone of little importance.
bubble burst, wikipedia is not always right. besides EVEN if I am wrong And you are right, it says that the sword absorbed the df thanks to vegapunk, vegapunk=marine zoro=pirate, i don't see why would there be connection or help from one to the other.

Objects did not eat devil fruit. They had them implanted. Two by Vegapunk, and one by Caesar Clown. They are the only characters known to have sufficient knowledge to implant devil fruit in inanimate objects. To what purpose the Strawhats would beg Caesar to implant a devil fruit in Zoro's sword is beyond me. I can't imagine the point of giving one of his three swords an ability, when Zoro himself does not have an ability. If you want flaming swords, may as well hope Zoro eats the mera mera no mi. Then he can cover all three in flames, rather than just one.

Pandaman is just an Easter egg. You'll usually find him in crowd scenes. Not a name that should be coming up in this discussion as anything other than a joke.

This is the best explanation so far, i understand. So because the Zoan devil fruit can be partially attribute to being something alive, that makes up for the other side being an object. Ok this is understandable. But once Again As I mentioned before, in the Zoan/object fusion, there is still intelligent life, so Even if Spandam releases the Sword, in Reality it's the Elephant itself that decided how powerful the attack will be etc.
It still makes 0 to no sense, even if Vegapunk implants the mera mera no mi into the sword.

Who said that I supported the idea that his swords should get Ace's fruit ? I don't want that at all. I already said, if it's not Luffy then it better disappear from the story...

I'm currently stuck between the following options:

1) Luffy - out of boredom/an accident, much like he got to eat the Gomu Gomu no Mi. But not without actually Oda explains why this wouldn't contradict Blueno's explanation.
2) Zoro - so he could have his flame sword anytime he wants, even by three. But Oda also could solve this by making Zoro learn Kinemon's art of sword...
3) Usopp - in some way to prove his manliness..
4) Fujitora - assuming he doesn't have any DF ability yet, I think a Marine admiral with a Logia DF wouldn't be wrong at all.
5) Whoever of the Strawhats gets it first, applying the rule of the Whitebeard Pirates ("Whoever non-ability user gets the fruit first has the right to get its power.").
6) It's going to fall into the hands of the Blackbeard Pirates.

So far Coby has yet to join the current arc at some point to make me consider that he'll eat it.

But, it doesn't mean that ONLY them can do it.

My candidate is Kabuto. Before I thought Usopp, but I don't think a sniping ability would work well with an all-powerful logia. How silly is to snipe when you can incinerate someone on the spot?
The problem is that so far we saw objects "eating" zoans, which naturally gives them a mind, which in turn can be trained controlled by the owner. How would one control Kabuto's power if the weapon could not take orders?

I highly doubt Zoro or Sanji will eat the devil fruit, nor do I want to see them eat any devil fruit. Their being able to swim underwater helps set them apart from Luffy because they can get the job done underwater if need be (Sanji saving Luffy, Zoro slashing Hodi) while Luffy is restricted to air (bubble, sky, land, whatever).

I can see Luffy getting mera mera no mi, but he'll either keep it safe or keep it with him and put it in Ace's grave.

Though, I could see him eating it too for some reason, and not dying.

I believe it would be great for Luffy to eat Ace's fruit, especially since BB already has 2 broken abilities and he might also have more by now if his main DF alows such a thing. Luffy needs something to power him up.
