How can a swords eat a DF....that sound stupid and a waste of a DF.

If zoro eat it...hes a swordsman..so he could do fire kurama..i mean fox..which he could learn it and not been weak of water of sea stone.
Sanji...he already do fire attack which make him cool...and hes about kicking.soo no.
Ussap it not a fighter..hes a scary guy and sniper and he already do a fire attack..
Nami....nami is a wather girl..and she do magic stuff and mera dont go with her.


If zoro or sanji become a DF user...that mean...the crew will lose a good support in case of water...

Ok anyone thought the posibility that the mera mera could imbued into a sword? For what we have seen with the dog fruit Mr4 cannons had and spandamans elephant zoan type its possible and iam sure that Vegapunks assistant they mentioned back then he had the knowledge to do that was caesar. What if kinemon or zoro get a sword imbued with mera mera's powers?

How about this?Luffy gets the fruit but keeps it and starts searching for Whitbeard s remaining crew.He gives it to them to pay tribute to tthe crew that took Ace under their wing.It seems like something Luffy would do.Zoro won t even consider giving a devil s fruit to Kuina s sword.Sanji is the best swimmer in the Straw Hats and i don t think that he is to be considered.To me anyway noone in this arc will get the Mera Mera.Burgess won t get it,as a winner of the tournament at least,cause if he manages to beat Luffy then the 2 year hiatus was compeletely unnecessary.It s someone we probably don t expect.Either the Whitbeard Pirates or Sabo.Luffy and Rebecca are my last choices.Blackbeard can eat 2 devil fruits because his body is special as Marco said in the Marineford war.Well Luffy s body is made from rubber so i think he can handle the consequences of a second devil fruit.Yet he is my last option cause he can already do the Red Hawk.

Actually I believe Luffy doesn't want the bad guys to have it but he also doesn't give a damn if anyone, a person or an object in his crew "eats" it. If Nami becomes even hotter (too hot to touch ) after eating the df then let it be her, I don't care. Therefore, it also goes the same way too Zoro's white sword, he wants a flaming sword just for the sake of his personal "stupid" selfish thought not for the actual awesome power of the df itself.

Well, MBVC, glad to know we agree that the Mera Mera should go with the Straw Hats, even if we have different ideas about who should eat it. Still, we'll just wait to see how things play out. However, if that fruit isn't eaten by a crewmember, somebody should ask Oda in a future SBS if there will be a logia joining the crew.

Highly doubt it, otherwise he wouldn't have asked Franky if he wanted the devil fruit.

The point is that it would conflict with the Devil Fruit powers of the Strawhats, none of them are hax or looked upon as that strong/important. A rubber-man, a flower-woman, a human-reindeer and a revive-man. Yeah they are quiet functional, but that's it, it depends on the user to make it as diverse and strong as they appear.

As sad as it makes me say this, Rebecca seems to be the most viable option as of now. Should Luffy win the DF and succeed in overthrowing Doflamingo from Dressrosa, Rebecca should have the fruit handed to her.
Her ties to royalty means that she is the rightful successor to the throne and it is only right that their main fighting power should be the queen who is also in possession of the Mera Mera. Please let's not be talking about her becoming a SH member after the events of the last chapter.

The most deserving candidate for the Mera Mera is Coby. He has improved drastically as a marine and the DF would serve to boost him further among the ranks. People are saying that Coby is the next Garp to which I can't help but chuckle. Garp is a one of a kind character in that he is a really strong non DF user who ranks among the top tiers. (Top 10.)

How then do you explain Coby getting to the level of Garp as fast as he has while marines like Momonga and Smoker haven't. Wouldn't this mean that Coby would be the strongest marine ever? As he would have achieved such a great strength at such a young age.

As a Marine he is also protected. We are not sure if BB will let the pink haired cow tits princess maintain the DF he wants to strengthen his crew with. He is strong enough to arrive at Dressrosa and raise hell to acquire it. Seeing how he took the Gura Gura from WB he might as well do the same. However I doubt that he is stupid enough to attack a Marine from HQ for a DF and risk his loosing some of his crew.

I think Luffy already has plans for the fruit to aid his crew. Why else would he ask Franky to eat it?

His nakama are the closest to as he has the stronger attachment to them. Who else would he ask first beside them? Its either his crew, Garp or (Sabo, Dadan or all the randoms he has helped through the way and his last options Vivi or Rebecca.)

Would be very dumb of Oda to give a member of the Strawhat the mera mera no mi. Zoro's sword seems to be a better choice than any of the crew. I could see Blackbeard's crew getting the fruit.

Beside the obvious waste of the fruit, wouldn't a sword eat Zoan based DF? I would rather have Luffy keep just as Shanks always has the Gomu Gomu no lying around.

Lots of organizations and crews have logias for subordinates. Look at the Whitebeards who had Ace while Whitebeard was a paramecia. And the three admirals were logias while Sengoku was a zoan.

Furthermore, we are talking about a rookie logia here. That would probably prevent them from becoming more powerful than Luffy.

Anyway, a logia will come in handy in the future. Since they're going up against Kaido after they take down Doflamingo, they'll need all the power they can get.

Well, if that power is enough to liberate Dressrosa and keep it safe, it's not a waste.
Sure, we won't see it much afterwards if she doesn't join the Straw Hats, but that power will have freed a country.

See that's the point. We haven't even seen her fight at all up till now, so I would rather prefer for Oda to show that first, before deciding if she's worth it because of a sword she uses and a short flashback she had. I want to see great personalities on the Thousand Sunny, she hasn't shown any quirks or own persona yet, something that made her special. She's just a sad girl, hunted by her own blood, trying to make the best out of things with little hope of success, since she didn't even want the soldier to fight.

But, the issue here is that I don't want any current members to consume the fruit, including Jinbei. Maybe a new member, but definitely not any current ones. Plus, I'm not sure how useful it'd be for a Straw Hat who isn't as good at fighting, nor do I think it's smart to have more devil fruit users who can't swim on the crew.

I dunno, I'm just going by with what some members here said. Though it would not be bad to have Luffy keep the fruit with him, it wouldn't get much use. Though I could see that happening the way it happened with him - a kid he likes or takes a liking to accidentally eats the devil fruit, same kid who reminds Luffy of himself or Shanks. It would definitely continue the cycle beautifully.

I'm not saying a current member. I agree that the power should be given to a new member. And funny that you should think that the fruit might make them overpowered then mention Jinbe joining the crew. The same Jinbe who was one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

As we saw though, a shichibukai can be defeated. Ace's defeat as a mera mera ni mi user came from Blackbeard because of his devil fruit and because he was tryin to protect Luffy. But yeah, I can see where you're coming from. :\

I could also see Luffy keeping mera mera no mi as a fruit to pass on to someone he deems worthy, but what happened to him and Shanks happens to someone else, with a new hope. Could also be that the situation happens to one of Luffy's crew member and not Luffy himself.
