Discussion Who will get Ace's Mera Mera no Mi (Fire) Devil Fruit?

I think Coby will get it. The 3000 marines on the way to Dressrosa he is probably on his way there. He wants to be an admiral, and All of the them are freakishly strong, so Coby needs somethig to help him close the gap betwwen he and Luffy a bit. When Luffy becomes PK, Coby wil become an admiral

Who is faster though? Jinbei or Sanji? It wouldn't hurt for the Strawhat crew to have two extremely fast swimmers, and at least three who can fight underwater if need be.

but jinbei is not only a fishman, but hes just about the strongest fishman

not to mention he can breath underwater

Well, giving it to Coby would make no sense, since it won't bring anything to Luffy and his crew. Luffy will deffinetly face tons of problems in the New World. He will have to fight Yonkou and other damn strong pirates and Marines as well, so the only logical choise would be to give the DF to the one who joins the crew. Otherwise it would be just a waste.

With the current event unfolds itself, Burgess might be the one who takes it back to BB unless Cavendish and Bartho somehow stop him, but I'm not sure whether these 2 can win against Burgess if Burgess is also a df user himself (probably a zoan type which suits him perfectly, a lion zoan maybe? Or some rare mythical beast similar to XDrake or Marco?)

Well, I actually thought Burguess wanted it for himself. Though it would be strange if he is that strong just with his own physical power. As we've seen him the first time I didn't get the impression that he is actually a strong fighter, but now it might be that he is quite a match for Francky or even Sanji.

And I really hope the one who will take him down would be Luffy since he took part in capturing Ace and thus leading to his death.

I really hope Sanji doesn't get the fruit, I really don't see him taking the fruit. Sanji likes swimming and he said he doesn't want the devils curse unless its absalom's fruit (even then, I'd doubt he'd take it and my explanation is coming up). It seems like a lot of people are forgetting Sanji's Dream is to find All Blue, and he would not get to experience it to the fullest if he had to use one of those Fishman Island bubbles. He is also the straw hats strongest swimmer, also as Sanji is my favorite straw hat I would dislike if he lost the ability to swim, especially since that was an area were he really excelled. I don't think I want any of the straw hats to eat that fruit, maybe give it to someone else as a gift of trust/friendship, or they could hold onto it or something.

About Burgess, I don't think Burgess has a devil fruit and Im not sure if I want him to have one, I think I would enjoy him more if he didn't have a DF which seems likely. I really think Burgess is really strong, he passed his round in like 2 minutes and he seems to really enjoy fighting, I doubt he's going down easy.

Inb4 Momonosuke eats the DF. Since he ate a fake DF, it should not be any harm eating the Fire Fruit. Thus Creating a Fire Breathing Dragon. The most obvious one is always the answer. Example: "Blackbeard: ima shake this world to its core!" 5 hrs later he eats the quake fruit.

At page 13 of chapter 720, bb says that burgess will bring the meramera no mi to him and it will be like ace himself has joined the crew.
This tells us 2 things,
1- bb cant have more than 2 fruits.
2- if burgess gets the fruit, he is the one who will eat it. Which means that if there is chaos in the colisseum and burgess gets his hands on the fruit, he will eat it straight away and not take it to bb.

Just thought this should be taken into consideration as it increases the chances of bb crew getting the fruit.

Because many people are crazy and think it would be nice but it isn't even very compatible from the powers alone.

Cavendish eating the fruit and becoming a strong nemesis would also be a possibility but I still hope it will end up as a souvenir and getting eaten later by Coby or a random kid in a small village that wants to become a Pirate^^

Just because he can eat more than one fruit doesn t mean he can eat an infinity. That s just silly. The mera mera no mi is useless for bb anyway. The biggest threat for him is akainu on who the mera mera is useless

I think Cavendish will be Luffy's future ally hence it's all right for him to eat Ace's df, at least it's way better than either Luffy or Rebecca eats it.

The marine battle ships are coming, maybe Coby is on board one of them thus this is a good chance for him to have Ace's df too. Because I fail to see Jinbei joins the SH in near future so the possibility for Sanji eating drops down to near 0%. Besides, if Coby eats mera mera then it's much harder for BB to hunt him down among other marine, in both Cavendish and Rebecca cases aren't so good because both of them are easy targets for the new powerful Yonko.
