Discussion Why can't Chopper hear Zunisha's voice?

Both in the anime and in the manga, Chopper can't hear Zunisha's voice, even though the elephant is an animal and chopper is able to talk to animals. If I'm not mistaken, he can't hear the Sea Kings either. Is this a plothole or?

i guess he can only understand "normal" animals in other words the normal standard of one piece (kung-fu sea lions, bears etc.) or just the "regulars"

sea kings are mythical creatures and so is zunisha. and for the plot sake. lol

i was expecting someone to say that its because uranus controlls the elephants like posseidon controlls the sea kings, personally i really dont think thats the case, but ive seen people defend this idea before so im surprised noone has pointed it out yet.

i think that its because they arent really "animals", think about it, all the "normal" animals we saw so far can comunicate with chopper, but zunisha and sea kings cant, but what elese conects these tow semingly completly diferent kinds of creatures? they can comunicate telepathically, animals cant do that, they make sounds, sounds wich chopper can translate, perhaps the reason is that there is a skill wich is comunicating through telepathy, that some species as a whole have, but that only some humans, like luffy, momonosuke and roger have for some reason, this seems like the most reasonable explanation to me, zunisha is in a diferent cathegory of creature, the "telepathic" creatures, a cathegory wich fits the sea kings as well.

"Voice of all things" Not literally the sound when someone talks. Apparently, luffy and momo heard what zunisha has in his/her mind. (Does it even sound right?). Roger was able to read poneglyphs with his ability(and it's not like a poneglyphs can talk). Unlike robin who was able to do so with her knowledge.

I find this odd too.

Maybe Zunisha and the older and bigger Sea Kings are in fact animal-like creatures with the mind of a human being... and a really long lifespan?
Zunisha was forced into this condition, while some fishmen were chosen as guards.

This. I think face to face Chopper could talk with Zunisha. Not sure about the Sea Kings though, has Chopper ever been confirmed to be able to talk to fish?

Honestly, I'm going with the Telepathy answer. Neither Zunisha nor the Sea Kings spoke via tongue, but through the mind.

To add to what others have said, 'the voice of all things' seems to explicitly refer to a telepathic form of communication. There's no DF that allows/emulates the VoAT so far.

But now I wonder if Lassoo can speak to other dogs. Or if Jack could hear anything Zunesha was saying, or if Zunesha can only talk via the VoAT, like the Sea Kings seem to be constrained to. Or if Zunesha and the Sea Kings can converse... They clearly have something in common.

Naitamie-Norida Elephant is what they are listed as, so I think tehre are more like him. I think these would qualify as terrestrial kings or something of that sort with Zunisha few discovered/revealed survivors... The voice of things is the only thing tieing both of them together so far, which would me a sort of telepathy..

So, what moved them before!? I don't have a resource but i'm positively with the World Government just putting the brand on them, they didn't made them, just like with Impel Down too. So, this three are unemployed because there's no boss with the Voice of All Thing to recite orders and Zunisha just wanders till no one knows, but he worries about the Mokomo Dukedom.

The voice of all things probably relates to things that are at least as old as the void century. Sea Kings, Zunisha, and the Poneglyphs.

Maybe Sea Kings can't live that long, but with Zunisha being so old then why not.
