I was watching the One Piece Wiki about Zeus and in the trivia they mentionned that as he's being used to carry Big Mom around it was like Sun Wukong. And something made tilt, ...
Sun Wukong had a staff which had the ability to expend and contract, and what was one of the new features of Nami's Clima-Tact ?
Sun Wukong had the power to control weather, so does Nami.
In some versions, he had a special cloud who helped him summon thunder, so does Nami.
Sun Wukong had a power to open any lock, like a thief.
Sun Wukong could shapeshift, Fata Morgana anyone ?

Well, I think if Oda is going this way we're in for a treat seeing the other powers of Sun Wukong ...

Great observation. It isn't too farfetched since so many shounens are influenced by dbz which was based off of Journey to the West ( the 1996 remake is the best version, everyone).

Also at the same time, because the monkey king, Sun Wukong is such a big deal in chinese folklore, you want to incorporate him into your product if your product will have a chinese audience. I mean Wukong from League of Legends is a great example. Tons of Chinese people play League. Either way I also love the lore behind Sun Wukong so I welcome more of that from Oda.

Know which other character is took inspiration from Sun Wukong? Luffy.
Luffy and Nami are also the first two characters designed for One Piece.
