I agree, Watanuki is being ridiculous. I get where he's coming from, but he should know that she's not going to come back. He needs to move on, even if that isn't easy, and this is basically doing the opposite for him.

Can someone explain to me the significance of the egg? The breaks between chapters have been so long etc I have no idea what it's for now.

Watanuki's decision did feel a bit out of the blue.

I was gonna save my opinion for the official chapter thread but can't hold back anymore...

Doumeki, don't listen to the Mokona! What Watanuki just made is NOT a choice... but a MISTAKE! Pure and simple!

Throw that egg at his head or something!

Or at least talk some sense into him. Don't just buy into it and pretend Wata made an actual choice! Yuuko wanted Watanuki to live his life and enjoy his existence, not just pine for her!

I mean, even if the image of him as another Yuuko is cool, he coulda done that without the "forever" aspect! Gah!

Unless.... maybe someone has to be there for the full-circle in Tsubasa when it might come back around...? o.o

I'm fine with Watanuki's choice, he loved Yuuko. His decision to stay in the shop and help people is what Yuuko was probably foreseeing. She took him under her care and she knew he was special. Who else is better to leave the shop to than the person who loves her and who she loves, he seems to be maturing

As the story progressed, Watanuki, a boy who possesses the ability to see "yokai" finds himself granting their wishes at the cost of his own welfare. Now that yuko-san's time has come to past he has chosen to take up her mantle and continue her work, at the cost of a life he never really had. Before Watanuki meet Yuko-san, what sort of life was he living? Ironic how the same place that granted him sanctuary has now tied him to it for all of eternity.

i dunno....i personally think Watanuki has made his final decision, and he's not going back on it anymore.

But in TRC the guy wants to resurrect the Witch? So it could be in due short time that we'll see her again?

The final page shows Watanuki doing something that he despised at one point. Something that he actually looked down on Yuko-san for doing. He picks up Yuko's elegant pipe, and he proceeds to get majorly stoned! The boy with a heart SO PURE that zashiki warashi (is a spirit girl who lives on a mountain with pure spiritual energy) not only has a crush on him, but she even went so far as to steal Dōmeki's soul (a strong spirit in it's own right) and present it as a gift to Watanuki, is now smoking Yuko's pipe. Soon he will probably be knocking back sake in the middle of the afternoon.

Now Domeki has this egg, from which " nothing will be born " as Mokona so vaguely stated. If he had chosen to use it would it have freed Watanuki from his newfound duty to the shop ? I don't know.

Although everything seems quaint, something major is still building up, Yuko's disappearance could only be a precursor to a calamity that the children will have to handle on their own.

Watanuki has made his choice, to wait for yuko's return and carry the burden that comes with that choice, which entails a cut off from the outside world and being "frozen" in time.

Sayoran and Sakura have also made a choice, to end their ongoing cycle of karma even if death awaits them both.

Now Domeki is on alert for the chocie he must also make.

Meanwhile wong fei plans to resurrect Yuko-san! If this happens it'll be the SECOND time she is brought back from death. Why wont, they just let her rest in peace ?

Well everything is pointing toward the egg bringing Yuuko back to watanuki or at the very least making her appear to him... I do wonder how Watanuki will fair at granting other's wishes...

I feel bad for the egg it got squished quite a bit.. as for Fei Wong Reed perhaps he will bring Yuuko back again as it was wished for again... but I think that either the peope from TRC will stop him or he'll pay with her life with his own... cause everything has a price right?

I just glanced over it a second time, this is the very first time watanuki refereed ti his ability to see yokai as a "power" and not something less deserving of that label.

Well he certainly doesn't plan on using his own life, he must need to use yuko for something. Maybe he'll use the soul of a copy ? He was originally after watanuki to use him for a similar purpose since he is so closely related to Clow Reed, since Watanuki's existence is unfortunately a true accident. Watanuki exist even though he should not exist.

Also you can't a assume a life equals a life. IN the end a life will be lost, so there will probably be an imbalance. Yuko has granted the precious wishes of countless millions of people, just to pay for Clow Reed's transgression. She has only just recently meet her quota. lol

probably not but I doubt anyone from TRC will let him use their soul so maybe there interference will cause him to use his own by accident? when I read the last few chapters it felt to me that by wishing for Yuuko to open her eyes again Clow's magic froze her time toward death but at the same time accelerated his own toward that same inevitability

I dont think his wish for yuko came with such a price, remember clow reeds wish was an accident, something he didnt think or intend to happen, it just happened ... much like wistful hoping. I think clow reed died in his own time. In the words of a more wise Watanuki..."no matter we wish, people die"

Perhaps but conscious or no he still made the wish and what more adequate price than one persons life for anothers? Eh who knows thats how it felt when I read it...

What I find more interesting is that when the time was wound back in TRC Clow Reed was still alive enough to take the place of the actual king... and only die a few years later... I always thought he died a long time before any Sakura existed... but time has seriously been altered by Yuuko, Clow and FWR

There is that but I dunno... Clow still had to pay for his "wish" even though it wasnt intentional... as for Yuuko's quota I think she wasnt paying for clow reeds transgression she was collecting payment for the clone sakura to be reborn...
