So I have been thinking about the ability to cover the place in darkness in order to strengthen my illusion ability and couse confusion/distraction to targets, but I can't seem to figure out a way to make it happen.
Dark is basically the absence of light, so I have been thinking of a way to restrict light from passing into the area that is affected. Emission is close to manipulation, so if emission is needed it should be possible to use it to some extend. But even with Emission I cannot think of a way to actually use it.
The only way I think that this would happen is by using En to have the light inside the En radius would have lower amplitude (and thus loses brightness, which couses darkness). However maintaining En is hard and won't be flexible to use. If there is a way to have this effect without using En or to make it flexible and usable for long periods of time without tiring the user, I would love to hear it.
I thought about having it as a variation of the illusion ability itself to make people "perceive" the place as it was dark, without the restrictions that it has. Conditions would be that when the ability is activated, everyone in certain range is affected including the user. That way, it could be used even if the targets do not know about the presence of the user. This would kinda give the feel I want the user to have. It would create confusion and would give some sort of characteristic to the user to "Bring darkness simply by being there (only with presence)".
However, this will not help to fulfill the condition for the main ability to make it more effective, and I also feel that it is somewhat fake that I had to resort to making it an illusion.
Is there no way to create the ability that I am trying to convey here, or is it only possible by stepping into specialization?
Also what do you think about the variation of illusion here, is it better than complicating it with having "real" darkness?
