An escape arc was doomed from the start while combat arc supposed to dwarf Marineford war has lots of going for Zoro. :hip
If we've learned anything from the year of Sanji, then dont expect much from the year of Zoro.
Oda never meant it be heavy fighting of 'Year of Sanji', but he still got combat feats. Pretty sure it more on character about it. He still heavily strong as shown in current arc.

Oda never said this was 'Zoro's arc' even with the theme of samurai. Though if so, then Zoro gotten a poor run so far then many overhype and thought will happen. If anything be more on his character than fights feats as so far his feats took a heavy dive especially Killer/Kamazou looking at the community. They see it as the new 'broken leg' issue (Even though was never issue and has reasons on Sanji's case unlike this one) as Zoro fainting really took a nose dive on his durability feats which was regarded as his best trait, but now it's reevaluted since on what people think he can handle now.

Not to say arc won't be completely awesome as it will be. Though don't expect it all about Zoro only or think he is 'strongest' around as think Oda is going to develop on his character while fight comes along too. Just looking on as I study the arc so far in the set-up and process.

After time skip lose - win count

Luffy : 1L - 4W
Sanji : 3L - 0W
Zoro : 0L - 3W

So yeah zero defeats and 3 wins is a poor run so far

Apparently there is an upcoming Zoro spin off drawn by the artist of Dr. Stone, Boichi to celebrate One Pieces 22nd anniversary.

Personally I think it will be of the nature of One Piece x DragonBall or One Piece x Toriko, so entirely non-canon but who knows, we already have canon stories produced by other artists in the magazine, they are novels and not Manga though.

And the name is "Stranded By the Sea"

Yeah, apparently he re-tells the Zoro vs Mihawk back from the Baratie. Excited to see it but nothing canonical, ofc.

Perhaps Zoro dies in Chapter 1944 and not 944?

We must have missed the 1 in front...

Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk

Just read that Zoro one-shot, and goddamn he was a badass even in loss. Wouldn't mind seeing that Zoro again, or at least Zoro who's pushed past his limit. Would be more fun.

Seems like nails hit the anime.

I think I watched the anime two times, during ennies lobby Arc and during the war. The quality really improved!!! This scene was awesome!!!

So looks like Zoro getting 2 swords this arc. Guess it being Wano and all it makes sense plus he hasn't got a new sword in NW either. Wonder which sword he'll swap out at Raftel.

@nik87 so did this chapter confirm Zoro able to use the advanced version of haki?
Yes, imo. However, it was never advanced for Zoro but a first step instead. Hardening and containing Haki in the sword is what he learnt during TS while he had to be using flow back in Alabasta not to cut those leaves.

Also, we will never see the same application of flow Haki among swordsmen and barehanded combatants, there wont be blasting and destroying from the inside on swordsmen, it defeats the purpose of swordsmanship.

I am still not 100% sure that what Luffy did to the tree isnt simply blasting because I doubt that he will make such holes in the bodies whoever he hits with that. Besides, it is blasting what he wanted to learn and he ended up learning something he didnt want? ...

The way I see it, Zoro would've come back from 2 years of training a bit behind Luffy in terms of Haki (excluding Kings haki), but in the last few weeks (canon) Luffy has been put in situations to advance him farther ahead. The rest of the SH need this type of test, especially Zoro.

It's a bit crazy power scaling wise but it is what it is. Enma's haki demand gives Zoro the right conditions to become stronger faster.

I like this sword arrangement thing if I understand it right. Enma will make Zoro stronger, and Zoro can make Enma more prestigious. It's great coz Zoro has meet standards of strength to use the sword properly, and the sword needs a wielder to make it famous. So there is a legend to be made.

Still calming down after the recent chapter.

So no one wonders what special powers the Wadoichimonji has? From the swords coming from Wano and in the hands of zoro there were always special drawbacks. Kitetsus are cursed, Shusui was a heavyhitter with crazy weight, Enma draws on the haki of the wielder. I somehow dont see his first sword being just a sword. Maybe it brings the wielder closer and closer to the demonworld, which would explain Zoros Ashura. Or it has an imprint of the former master on it, which could mean we could see something related to Kuina if he masters it.

... it could even be a secret Kitetsu which cursed Kuina so the stairs killed her.

Zoro does not have internal damage Haki. Only, Rayleigh and Luffy have shown this Advanced Flow Ryou level 2 Haki.

The only other people that could have this Haki are Garp, Shanks and Roger. This is why Roger, Rayleigh and Shanks don't have Blackblades

Rayleigh, Roger and Shanks do not have Blackblades, despite being stronger than Mihawk.

The blast haki luffy showed in 955 is what Zoro uses in his Air Slashes. This is what he used to cut Pica and monet This is Armament Advanced Ryou level 1.

There is so much wrong with this post lol
1. Black blades have nothing to do with strength
2.Garp, Shanks, and Rodger are not even hinted to have this type of haki
3. We have no idea if Rayliegh or Shanks are Stronger than Mihawk. This is headcannon at best.
4. In 955 Luffy used the internal damage have because you can see the surface of the tree that Luffy hits is untouched while the back of the tree is decimated

There is no internal damage haki on swordsmen, it is impossible to pull it off through a sword and why would they when their purpose is to cut? However, it doesnt stop them from using the same type of flow Haki but through a different manipulation that fits a sword.
The only ones who have shown internal damage application, if it is different than blasting, are Luffy and Rayleigh.
Where do you get the information that those three are stronger than Mihawk?
Luffy never has cut anything with his Haki application, as I said, the application of flow is different among them. We cant expect Luffy to pull off a black blade.

Just wondering who believes Zoro can currently hurt Kaido with Shusui? This it not to prove a point, I just want to see how many people actually believe this.

I personally can't see Zoro hurt Kaido as he is right now. I know we haven't seen him all out, but that doesnt automatically allow you to assume he can hurt a creature said to be impervious to damage.

By Zoro's own admission he has a ways to go before reaching Mihawk. That's being said, please vote. If I am in the minority I would like to know

Oda has already stated Mihawk is stronger than Shanks, when will you fanbois stop with your BS
He's not stronger. He has superior swordsmanship/Swordplay.

Meaning in a sword duel Mihawk is stronger.
He's comparing them swordsmen wise.

Zoro seems to be compatible enough with Enma. That he wasn't breathing very heavily even though he did pant a bit.

You know what Oda I was wrong. You were right..Zoro getting a new magic sword and doing some training with it...he's slicing somebody's scales off..

Voted No at the moment. I don't think Zoro's haki is stronger than Kaido's haki. If it was, then I believe Zoro is capable of defeating Mihawk like right now.

Though, I'd like to see "The Billion-Fold world Trichiliocosm" tested on Kaido. It looks so powerful.
