I think we might be getting a little off topic

1. We are not talking about Zoro DEFEATING Kaido, just if Zoro can CURRENTLY pierce Kaido's scales

2. Enma should not be brought up because this post isnt about Enma at all.

The point of this is to see what people think of Zoro's ability to damage a Yonko that cannot be damage by normal means
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Luffy has stated multiple times he has to bypass Kaido's SCALES. Luffy hasn't once mentioned trying to overcome Kaido's haki. If it was a matter of haki I doubt he would be as impenetrable as he is.
You asked if he can damage Kaido with shunsui...Ppl answered and are comparing the old/default weapon of Zoro for this thread. With how it differs and may be less potent unlike the new weapon...

What's the issue? Thread might as well get locked because ppl already have opinions that dont make sense..If Zoro cant beat somebody like Katakuri, much less never fought anyone near that lv...How the hell is he going to damage a yonkou...We being stupid on purpose or what....

How and why is Zoro suppose to perform a feat greater than Luffy who has actually battle experience and feats of this lv..& he's weaker than him..SMT, I'm ask a mod to lock this...It don't make no sense

He showed it at Punk hazard. His sword never touched Monet, but he was able to draw her blood despite her being logia.

He sent a flying slash attack. In that slash attack, there was haki present else he wouldn't have injured her. He was able to release the haki over that distance.
Maybe its just me but that exchange was meant to emphasise Zoro being significantly superior to Monet and Monet having realised that a lot earlier in the exchange (I assumed Zoo didn't use Haki throughout that fight). Zoro cut her in half as a logia without the use of Haki. Though I disagree, the possibility is there that Zoro did indeed have better CoA than Luffy.

Punk Hazard has some iconic moments upon revisiting.

Zoro used Flow barrier haki to cut Pica. The 1080 Pound Phoenix is flow barrier haki. All his flying slashes are barrier haki.

Zoro HAD a more Advanced technique than Luffy, the barrier haki. However, the base strength of his Armamemt Haki was weaker than Luffy's.

The Amazon Lily Kuja's have mastered barrier flow haki. They use it in their daily lives.

It's been so long so it's easy to have forgotten.

Zoro attacked her twice.

The first was when he cut her cheek with a flying slash. She bled blood, and this is proof he can release his haki outside his sword. There are other instances he used this technique but this example is the more glaring one as it involved a logia.

The second time he attacked Monet was when he cut her in half. He didn't use haki for this second else she would've died.

Think of Luffy Clashing with Katakuri.

All of Amazon lily had more Advanced Haki than Luffy.

Funny though, a haki-less Luffy still whopped the asses of these people using advanced haki :kappa

I agree, the underlying strength of the haki in itself is what counts. Advanced application of it is the bonus.

Nope he is stronger, Mihawk hopes Zoro can surpass Shanks so he can be his new rival.
Shanks vivre card states outright he is a swordsman and a non DF user, he doesnt realy on any other form of fighting he is a swordsman who is not WSS because he is not STRONGER than Mihawk.

In the future Shanks will just be another stepping stone for Zoro nothing more.
In Sbs 87, Oda stated he does not know how Shanks fights.

: What's the name of Red-Haired Shanks's sword? -P.N. Kooshi

O: Right. It's called "Gryphon." Shanks appeared in the first episode, but I had no clue how he was going to fight, you know?

@Rmstorm I don't see how Kuja had the advanced (flow) haki when all they did was cover the arrows with haki. Or you mean the Gorgon sisters?

Zoro has better chances (even if his haki is overall weaker than Kaido's) imo since as a swordsman he would basically only need to make one powerful precise condensed attack unlike other characters whose haki gets dispersed.

But not right now anyways, I think. So no.

All the kuja's use flow on their arrows. Read One Piece chapter 939. Transfering haki to a weapon is barrier sentumaru flow haki.

After that, read One Piece chapter 947.

Both should be the flow because you need to let it flow from the body into sword/arrow which is application of the flow haki for weapon users while barehanded ones use the blast since they have no medium to let it flow into.

Zoro HAD a more Advanced technique than Luffy, the barrier haki. However, the base strength of his Armamemt Haki was weaker than Luffy's.
We cant know for sure who has better Armament of the two as they never put it to a test and Haki talent for Zoro is CoA while we have seen Luffy's CoA being penetrated through entire NW. If Luffy's armament gets beaten, he gets injured while if Zoro's gets beaten his sword will break.

Going by the amount of Haki that has flown out due to Enma and that he instantly pulled it back in, I would say his Armament is pretty good as well as his mastery but he never encountered such situation like with Enma and trains to stop it.

I voted no. I'm assuming hurt = wounding.

Depending on how Luffy goes against Kaido will answer this question. If Luffy can hurt Kaido with those haki attacks he's practicing without G4 then the possibility exists that a sword weaker than Enma could do the job.

I feel you on what you were saying before. But we are talking about current Zoro. The answer is no.

Lexuaflame is referring to the current Zoro with Shunsui. Not if Shunsui the sword itself is capable of dealing the damage. Which is why this thread is almost pointless. Especially if he wants us to refrain from mentioning Enma.

Because the answer is an obvious no.
Zoro, cannot do what Luffy could not which is hurt Kaido.

As for Shunsui, yea it could hurt Kaido. But its user needs such talent.

Both Luffy & Zoro are getting power ups surrounding haki & becoming stronger throughout the arc. The new sword seems magical, which is why it an upgrade.

But let's say Zoro tamed the sword, or got use to it. His Swordsmanship would raise overall meaning he could replicate the same feats with a blade such a Shunsui.

Hehehehe I have used this same page to cite how powerful Zoro is. I want to reiterate, Zoro is my favorite One Piece Character but to be fair, Zoro is not at the Kaido cutting level yet. Zoro basically saying there is nothing he cannot cut (and believing in what is said) does not equate to reality. It is almost like a self reassurance like a more dramatic, "you can do it!" that people say to themselves quietly. In that moment he sliced open what essentially was a moving mountain with no evidence of haki protection. Then he foddered Pica because his Haki was superior. And of course because he is awesome. But I am pretty sure if he uttered those same phrases while going at Kaido, give him all 3 Wado Ichimonji, Shusui, and Enma, he will still not be able to cut Kaido's scales currently. He is just not there yet. YET.

At his current level, I don't think he can hurt/wound Kaido with Shusui. In this respect, it's less about the sword and more about the ability of the swordsman.

Zoro's haki would have to be stronger than Kaido's for him to cut him. You think it's stronger?
Im taking the same casual Kaido who fought Luffy here, the same who didnt bother to dodge, defend or block!
And as previously established, Zoro's haki is stronger than Luffy's so i don't see a reason why he couldn't cut him.
