Not if the translation is good.
The offical English scans say Greatestest. But that's been proven to be false and Strongest is the correct translation.

Viz is stupid and refuses to admit when then make errors. Hence we are stuck with shit like ZOLO

But when Zoro responds he says... To be the GREATEST and that translation checks out as far as I'm aware. If you have the viz app its chapter 51/52

This is likely where the deviation lies for both parties of this discussion. I personally want more sword duels on Zoro's end to show his improvement, rather than him just fighting against strong folks. I want to see Zoro prove to other swordspersons why his Santoryu is superior to their technique. Or why he's more in tune with his blades than they are.
But I'm not saying I don't want to see that, only that I don't find what he's doing underwhelming or meaningless either. At least Shiryu and Mihawk are waiting ahead for him, and probably more, so I'm okay with waiting.

I haven't given it much thought, but I think Zoro defeating a variety of opponents with different skills is more interesting than having him defeat other "pure" swordsmen over and over again.

Mihawk also says that "if your a competent swordsman we would have no need to cross swords to know that my SKILLS (not strength) far surpass your own

Why would that translation from Viz be more trustworthy than what's known to be bad?

Either way, I have the official italian volumes and every single time Zoro talks about becoming "il più forte".

Mihawk also says that "if your a competent swordsman we would have no need to cross swords to know that my SKILLS (not strength) far surpass your own
It's not even a sentence about Zoro's dream nor about Mihawk's title, talk about grasping at straws.

You were not.
Yes I was. It checks out as in if someone read the viz translation they would think Greatest is the right word.

In the very previous paragraph I said the translation was WRONG.

Chill out

The Kanji used in the actual Japanese is Strongest, not Greatest.

1. I'm perfectly chill.

2. Yes, in one paragraph you said Viz translations are wrong, but in the next one you said "BUT in X chapter he says Greatest and that translation checks out as far as I'm aware", so of course I was arguing that why would you trust that especific translation if you acknowledge Viz is usually wrong on that.

So you meant something different? Cool, you explained it now.

Clearly not, but I'm glad you understand finally.

@Ellenate I think the problem is a number of places use Greatest and Strongest as interchangeable words. But for powerscaling purposes it matters.

It has already been established long ago, even in this forum the original RAW where posted and translated, Ohara has already translated and addressed this.
dub have him as strongest, sub has him as strongest even on the wiki to show that your lying has him as strongest.

the only people who have him as greatest are fan translations and some fansubs, the original material says he is the strongest and that wont change just because you disagree with Oda

alright, you guys seem to have gone off on a tangent about mihawk so i just wanted to make that clear.

in the dub/sub/manga when zoro joins luffy he says greatest. you're saying that was the result of a translation error?

I'm not sure about the first time. But when he was talking to Mihawk he definitely said Strongest.

He could have said greatest, but we would have to see the Kanji used

i should've just said the scene from the beginning to avoid all of this confusion.

alright, does he ever state his dream again "corrected" in the dub or manga (if so where/when)?

Every time Zoro is in a pinch he says his dream and specifically says strongest, never has he referred to his goal as being greatest but always as strongest
