Maybe he just lost his eye during his training with Mihawk. Maybe there is really nothing it there.
Just like how everyone was saying things about Sanji's left eye only to find out there is nothing weird or different in there except his eyebrow.

Shouldn’t it be weird? Zoro loosing an eye should be big deal if you ask me.
Sanji’s eyebrow will be a significant importance later in One Piece. There is a theory about him being a prince of some kingdom. If you think about it we know nothing about Sanji’s past before he became a cook boy. Oda has foreshadowed it many times. IMO.

I think scar is from mihawk after a last challenge for the title of worlds strongest swordsman .since he lost one eye would be slashed and if he tried again he will lose the other one but he dint so he knew it was too soon to get the title ,remember the first defeat against mihawk was front slash across zoro . I heard some thing like this in a manhwa that if you lose u lose one eye and then try again other one so you'll end up like fujitora blind and really on other senses .

Maybe Zoro is developing the same Eyes as mihawk but they put a strain on his body so he has to keep it closed................ Thats way out there though...
Simple conclusion its nothing and he just lost it during training

I think haak eyes ene is an effect from training. And zorg is NOw training huis right eye.
I think huis left eye was trained before and NOw to het the second HAWK eye he Needs to focus everything in his opener eye to make iT stronger. At Some point his eye Will be trained enough and Then hè Will show us both his HAWK eyes

Didn't Mihawk give Zoro that giant wound on his body the first time they "fought"? Maybe that scar on his eye is the same, a punishment after a challenge to a fight. Zoro was over confident after training for a few months and challenged Mihawk once again but lost his left eye. This could also be seen as a tribute to his improvement from their first fight, where Zoro suffered a deadly wound, until now, where he "only" lost one eye.
