Imo Rave Master had a lot of boring scenes so I think FT is better than it, but Sieghart is still Hiro's best character to date, with Zeref a close second

Tho in general I don't consider mashima a good storyteller at all but comparing his two works- rave master actually tried with the story and gave some ecchi shit along the way, FT abuses the hell out of fan service and (personally) its characters become about as interesting as cardboard after zeref gets introduced. Too many fodder characters are introduced just to move the "story" along with the whole "nakama" schtick
