Summary and Preview

When Daikichi returns home for his grandfather’s funeral he meets an unfamiliar child in the garden. Later, his mother explains to him that Rin is grandfather‘s illegitimate daughter! The presence of the child causes embarrassment to all relatives and nobody wants to adopt her. Daikichi, annoyed by such attitude, decides to take care of her himself. How will the cohabitation between the bachelor and the quiet Rin evolve?

This is a very unique manga for adults in that it explores the relationship between a single "father" trying to raise a young "daughter." Quite a few of the trials and tribulations that Daikichi experiences while figuring out how best to raise this girl revolve around Japanese procedural and cultural things that are probably pretty alien to outsiders. There's a lot of internal narration in this manga, at least for Daikichi, and the manga is all about discovery and exploring (new and old) relationships.
