Re: Shicibukai Vs Yonkou
But we do have 3 pieces of evidence that suggest shanks is a swordman though:
1.- Shanks in his yougth using a sword. By no means conclusive but it still supports the theory.

2.- Shanks using a sword againts whitebeard. IMO if I am going to fight with the only man who tied with the PK, then I use my primary fighting stile. I dont think shanks would attack the whitebeard without his primary fighting technique.

3.-The third piece of evidence are the duels between Shanks and Mihawk. Mihawk is a swordman and takes pride in it. If shanks was able to keep up with mihawk in terms of swordmanship, then he has to be a hell of a swordman. I dont think mihawk had several duels with shanks because mihawk defeated him all those times or he would care about a duel with him if he wasnt a swordman. Also it would make sense that there were several duels between them if they were equal, Mihawk most likely wanted to be acknowledge as the best.
Also nightmare luffy had a swordsman's shadow in him. In fact he had 100 shadows in him. The moment luffy got all those shadows, luffy became W/E the owners of the shadows were because he gained their skill.
Well, according to what you wrote, then it is simply imposible to know if shanks is a swordman or not. We have seen him in action once, and we didnt see how things ended. That one time technically shouldnt be enough to put him in or out of the swordman category. No not Really. A swordsman is a fighter who uses in every battle a sword, a all time sword fighter. Like Zoro, in every battle he is using a sword. For example, Nightmare Luffy.. he was able to fight with a sword, but his primary fighting style his bare-hand based, so he isn't a swordsman.
