I think Toriko has a very creative start. It just needs some character development. These things take time though. I have faith in it. It has a great foundation with the Toriyama-esque world. As I've previously stated, it's world reminds me of the crazy world of the original dragonball.

QFT. Shimabukuro doesn't seem to be in any rush. Instead he's creating an interesting, intricate, original world. The plot and characters will come, it's obvious he knows what he's doing. There really isn't a ceiling for this series, it should just get better and better.

You need some patience and hope for your patience to be rewarded. I had my difficult moments with one piece's slow progess too but hey look where one piece stands now. So yeah why not giving toriko a chance. It has a reason for being at the top of ToC

Awesome! Glad you're up for giving it a chance - it's skyrocketed to the top of my WSJ favorites list over the course of these 32 chapters (right up there with Neuro, though not at the godly level of OP - yet maybe in ten years it will be ). I assume you know this already, but make sure you give it a few chapters before forming an opinion. Give Toriko's world time to grow on you and become comfortable. Once you reach that point, it's all very smooth, very entertaining sailing.

I'm so glad that Japanese readers have finally recognized a fantastic manga and sent it to the very top of the ToC. As others above have said, it can only get better from here. It's great that it's being given the room to.

I think Toriko was very exciting until recently. The last two chapters have been kind of slow, and Sani's powers aren't as cool as I originally expected them to be.

The thing that keeps me reading this is awaiting Zebra, that man looks like a beast.

Toriko had better be pretty awesome if it's being compared to OP and DB. I I've only just begun reading it so I expect it to be good from all the hype you guys are giving it.

I found the beginning of OP to be pretty subpar (I only got to the black cat pirates...ick). I think the start of Toriko is good if not better. The series always is doing something interesting and rarely recycles ideas.

It still baffles me that you don't like One Piece... but well, to each his own. It's really cool, though, that WSJ has fans as different as you and I (and Noodles, for that matter). I guess that's what allows for "niche series" to become successful at all (though I'd classify Toriko in the "mainstream" - just very unique and original and fresh mainstream).

Bakuman is clearly getting to me.

So Sket has fallen after rocking the casbah, Meister is on the positive side of the threshold.... Kuroko just about isn't. And seeing as i'm one of the few who doesn't see it as an abomination that's... good for me? wait no sket's doing badly that's bad for me!

I hope mago won't hang there continiously in the future. Anyway I wonder how long it will take before they are going to end asklepios. Imo that one has been given too much credits. Maybe they'll wait for a return of HxH or some new serie to make an end of it

Shouldn't bakuman be ranked too, Noodles? Since it has Cover but no other color pages...

Other than that, I'm surprised WSJ has so many masochistic fans that Bleach still stays at #4.... I'd much rather see Gintama up there... It's consistently funny and great x3 I guess it lacks the appeal of normal fighting stories currently again... meh =|

It's more often than not nowadays. Somehow I wouldn't mind if Toriko take's Ichigo's place in the big 3 but...

Anyway, an OK start for Meister's ranking, Kuroko really doesn't look too hot, and...well, what can we say, Bakuman's doing something right to steal a cover from ES21.

it's been ahead of bleach whenever it or bleach has been ranked for the last *attempts to count* fuck it it's been ranked ahead of it whenever the two have been ranked back until issue 50 last year (where bleach was ahead)... so it's more often nowadays.

and Meister is in my super 5 jump team (the ideal jump top 5 for those who dont play along to my sense of dramatics) along with jaguar, one piece, sket and Toriko, so i can only hope it goes higher and higher

I second that.

Technically Kuroko is only one spot under Meister, which people have been calling a decent start, but I too for some reason feel more alarmed at its position. At least it didn't crash straight to the bottom. It looks to have a big enough buffer to gain a larger fanbase - hopefully, anyway.

I'm curious about next week and Bokke-san's first ranking as well.

I think that even if it leaves the "Big 3", Bleach won't go away. It will probably find a strong place in the second tier if it does leave the big 3...and as long as the anime and stuff is made for the series, it's hype won't go away unless it suddenly just drops like a rock.
