Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

Netero will only lose if the king beats him to the point he admits defeat. So any conjecture that Netero will throw the battle is out.

Moral consequences are what bothered Netero the most. That's why he unleashed his full power in this fight. What he wanted was a fight were odds were stacked against him.

Sucks to be the most powerful nen user then. xD

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

Yes, but look at it this way, even though King is trying to beat Netero by not killing him, Netero is going to sacrifice everything to kill him.
As I see it, this fight will most probably result in Netero's death, that too will be accidentally caused by King, during the fight. But since they are the only ones present there, this will create further uproar against the Ants.

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

nah king will die just because nen is a real fucked up way to battle xD

theoretically it should be so...

netero wants to fight und rescue the world, accomplish his order and also to stand up to the biggest challenge he ever seen --> high spirit, high nen

the king just wants to admit netero defeat because he doenst really wants to kill him, also it seems this fight isnt interesting to him --> low spirit, low nen

i just dont know whats happen then, will the other ants resign or are they going on a revengetrip

You can also put it this way: The king is fighting for what he believes in from the bottom of his heart and is ready to put his life on the line for it (even though he doesn't consider Netero as an imminent threat) -> high spirit -> high nen

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

(even though he doesn't consider Netero as an imminent threat)
exactly this is what makes the difference

netero has showed some good moves, when they were "god damn good" the king could become confused, what would disturb automaticilly his nen

if netero doesnt really hurt him, then everything is then this fight is over and i think netero knows that, the only advantage our old companion has is his fighting experience and his knowledge over nen and thats gonna be shown during this fight :/

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

I think Netero will lose the battle but win the war.

Explaining: if Netero loses but has a great time fighting an impossible, stronger foe, that will remind Meruem of his battles with Komugi, the joy of finally finding a challenge, the joy of feeling vulnerable, feeling human. He is, nevertheless, a mix of Chimerae-ant and a human, so the human side of his is still alive and kicking inside of him.

A battle already won has no challenge, no fun, no joy, and that's is part of what Togashi is showing us with Gon: a weak hunter beating challenges way above his capabilities, over and over. It's not about being the most powerful, it's about being the most successful. Gon is a great hunter despite not being the most powerful hunter.

In the end, Meruem will realize that, and his human side most likely will throw away his powers. Meruem will want to become a human and live happily with Komugi, regardless of the power he could have on his hands while being an ant.

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

Netero may have made the wager because he plans to lose, he wants to tell the king his name while still fighting an enemy of unimaginable strength. That way both win, the king gets an identity, Netero gets to experience the joy of a true challenge. From there, I can't guess what will happen. Netero clearly entered with a plan of what to do with the king. Alive or dead he has to be eliminated as a threat.

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

If I had to bet I would say ten. Not that I am really confident I'm right, just predicting based on past behavior. Considering how long he was off, and that he writes the chapters during hiatus, a second set of ten late this summer or early in the fall would not surprise me.

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

Well, in the comments he wrote "my goal this year is to draw as much as I can". That may or may not mean anything, but it could be an indication of why there was no "how many chapters this will go on for" sign. So there could be more than 10. I think the longest he's ever gone (including like, in the beginning) without a hiatus is 38 chapters. Course back then hiatuses would last 1-5 weeks.

Quality over quatity! just dont compare it to Inoue Takehiko's work.

its awesome, i didnt realized it before (so dumb) but Netero has buddha ears. i cant believe i missed that before this chapter. it makes sense since his goddess somewhat resemble buddha.

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

man of the few threads I've read on alot of ppl think that this arc sucks super bad but to me I just think it came to early the two main characters are skill in early development of there skills and it seems a bit unfair to just throw them into a situation where they are facing enemies that are like 5 t0 10 times more powerful them them they haven't even had a chance to try out any of there new learned skills before this arc that to me is why this arc is bad to me

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

This arc has been pretty controversial. I think it has over all been very good. More than anything the number of breaks have disrupted a lot of the intensity and suspense. I also felt the middle portion of the arc - when Meleoron and Ikalgo were introduced, then when the focus shifted to Knuckles - was not as good as the current part, nor the beginning. But, the king is one of the best characters in the series and seeing Netero has been more than worth it. Over all I prefer the Chimera Ant arc to Greed Island, but liked the Hunter Exam and York Shin arcs more.

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

Hisoka was way more powerful compared to Kilua and Gon than the Ants. The Nen power made him superhuman, while Kilua and Gon were regular humans. The power diference seems lower than before to me, because they could do almost nothing against Hisoka in the beggining, while they CAN fight the ants, even if very underpowered.

Kilua fighting the 'Intensification Nen Ant Guardian' (forgot the name, sry) was the kind of attempt that wasn't even possible for the main characters prior to learning Nen powers, and against the villains of that time. Yet, they did manage to do quite a lot back then, just like Leorio did against the Spider even though he never learned Nen.

To me, being a hunter is way more than being a Nen user, and so they're not fighting enemies 5 to 10 times themselves. There's more to it than learning Nen, and the abilities required to pass the Hunter exam before even learning how to use Nen should be rememebered here. They will make the difference. This is not DBZ where you always need to train more to have a chance of injuring your foe. Smartness plays a significant role.

Killua didn't fight the Royal Guard, he distracted it.

Netero vs the King is really getting more and more intense. I love how Togashi is exploring both of their characters minds during this fight. He really approaches combat like pretty much no other shounen writer does.

I think Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Toriko have same combat styles as HunterxHunter.

This chapter is great as last chapter. But, I wish Togashi to bring back Hisoka soon, I really miss this guy.

Yeah, agreed. The king is finally approving of Netero as an admirable enemy, but still considers him inferior. Hopefully the secret movie will change that. Also, I loved the king's reaction to the king's "praise". xD

Re: Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro

Nice chapter, to bad we have 1 volume every 6 months lol. I just don't see how this manga is ever gonna end, there is just so much stuff to b covered. I can see an end to this arc once the king is defeated (I doubt he can be killed by netero though) but overall for the manga to get a proper end it still needs at least 150 more chapters. Lucifer is bound to get his power back soon and most of the gang is still very well alive. hisoka is needs some serious screentime too. Gon needs to find his dad at some point (not ever meeting his dad would be as bad as naruto bot becoming hokage at some point). Should the manga actually get 150 chapters we should expect it to end in 60 years lol. I wish the author would just write more often lol. Hopefully this manga won't get the same abrupt ending yu yu hakusho had (I felt it was anyways).
