This story is about Luffys adventure not, not his sons or somebody else, so it's him who should end the open questions hinted by Oda, Whitebeard and Gol D.. I don't want to repeat things already posted in this thread, but they are there, just read them. :P The whole plot would be unfulfilling if it ended in a cicle, it would seriously harm the whole plot if there is no climax with the WG being freed, the Will of the D fulfilled. As others said, it would be pointless.

I'd rather not see Luffy die... I'd rather see him and his crew go off to their next adventure into the sunset... something which makes the adventure seem like it will never stop...

But I do want a great ending... and if Luffy dies he BETTER BEAR HANCOCK A CHILD!!!

I doubt Luffy surviving Magellan's poison made him stronger. In truth the experience robbed him at least ten years of his life and who else knows what.

The idea here (at least in my mind) is that Luffy will be the one to complete the "revolution" that Roger began.. So I can't see a logical reason why dying would be useful...

I can imagine 100000 better ways for OP to end than with a dead Luffy.

This is my prediction:

He will find one piece, be the king etc etc but leave one piece alone to continue the pirate age. With years being taken out of him from injected hormones, he will get near to the end of his life. Chopper will produce medicine to keep him alive until they get back to SA. He will die there after disbanding the crew and die as the pirate king. Maybe he'd do a roger and reignite the flame of the pirate age (like WB also).

I agree to this somewhat. I think Luffy will find One Piece but it won't be what he expected and in the end he will hide it and announce to the world that he added his treasure to it and that others should search for it like with Gol D. Roger. Starting another pirate age all over again!!! Oh! And Zoro will end up like Silver Releigh and still be alive spreading rumors about the treasure. But you never know.....

If Luffy dies, what would determine whether the scene is memorable or not is how it's done. The crew will be done anyway by the end of the series. Usopp, for example, will be going back home to Kaya and company after the reformation of the World Government at the end of the series.

This is actually a nice theory and something I could believe happening. Luffy has been stated so far to be the successor to Roger and WB and the other old-timers' legacies, but IMO Luffy should not only be the successor, but also surpass their legacies as well. Therefore it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to believe that the entire crew surpasses their predecessors as well. For example, most of us believe that Zoro is inevitably going to fight Mihawk and win. If Chopper were to cure the disease that Crocus couldn't, then Chopper would surpass his predecessors and truly fulfill his dream. Following this theory, Luffy would conquer the disease that even Roger couldn't (with the help of your friendly neighborhood Reindeer, of course), not only succeeding but surpassing Roger's legacy. That would be a pretty cool outcome, IMO.

Thanks for the info but I don't think Luffy will die at the end of One Piece, or at least we won't see him die (we may have a flashforward). Unlike Roger who died of an illness, Luffy will live long and be crowned King of the renewed Ancient Kingdom. We will probably some young people, the descendants/children of the Straw Hat Pirates, going to the sea at the end of One Piece, while their parents laugh.

Luffy can't die, just like Roger din't die. Idk, but in the past chapter, Oda show Luffy were more then alike, but almost the SAME. I think if Luffy dies, which will eventually happend, some one will replace, and be the new MOnkey!!..

A new era will be born through the actions of Luffy & his crew:
1. The hidden history will be revealed to the world
2. The WG will undergo big changes w/ new management
3. The Tenrybuito will lose their fortune
4. Stronger ties will establish between islands/nations

At least One Piece won't end anytime soon.
