enigma dropping is only natural with the kind of story development it had around and after chapter 8 with all that in picture ordeal imo. at least it wasn't even remotely as interesting as it was before for me ^^

one piece was a nice surprise to be back, but that's now the second time in a year or so the editors made mistakes there and it's kinda getting unreliable <.<;

Personally I think that the higher rankings were due to pimping, and this is something closer to it's real status. I've been kind of expecting something like that for a while.

You realize Enigma's only in 8th place, right? With the color pages it's in 8th of like 16. And it's getting the cover next week. It's not like it "suddenly fell" a series never stays in EXACTLY the same place. Even Toriko fell sometimes but always went back up.

It's only One Piece and Naruto that are always on top and never move because they have long running animes and huge fanbases, always selling over 1 million copies each tank.

Fair point, forgot to take color pages in to account. The size of the ToC right now kinda throws things off too.

Looks like volume 1 of Enigma didn't made it to Oricon top 30. Maybe I expected too much on Enigma.

Generally you're not gonna see a brand new series rank high right when it starts unless it's a really well known author. It tends to happen with every series.

Well, Jump recently had brand new series by unknown author tend to be rank in Oricon, like Nurarihyon, Double Arts, and Beelzebub.

Well, there are two things, both of those were more mainstream mangas, and neither one sold more than 50,000 in their first volumes.

I dunno what enigma sold at all. Also enigma is far from a mainstream manga. It's not something that would shoot up suddenly in popularity. It is getting a lot of people who like it enough to do well in the TOC though.

I can't remember if Mago or Arts first volumes charted. They may have been towards the bottom of the charts. Neither sold much more than 40,000 copies their first week. Beelze had a lot of hype behind it when it debuted, same with Toriko. Shueisha made a much bigger push for them than they normally do. Typically new Jump manga sell between 20-40,000 copies and only break the top 30 if the bottom of the charts are weak. This happened to be a strong week. Which reminds me, I didn't post the charts.

So this cover isn't too bad, is certainly better than the last one (# 05-06).

For those wondering, I have Jump Next!
Should commence scanning the Komi oneshot within a day or so,
and I'll try to get my translator on it if possible.

Would you consider scanning the others as well (or at least the action ones)?

Not sure yet, I don't have too much free time to scan the others, so it's a maybe.

I think Jump is trying to push some more sport series. Jump recently released one shots on archery, kendo, judo, and volleyball.

I don't think neither of the first three sounds interesting, but a good volleyball manga could work.

Any sports can be made interesting depending on the mangaka's skill. In the beginning, nobody think a manga about go (Hikaru no Go), golf (Dandoh) and billiard (Break Shot) can be interesting either xD
