did all of whatever you said before posting this thread and Berserk is not available in my country and importing it doesn't seem to be fair as far as the price is concerned

Um yeah I just wanted to ask the previous breaks of Berserk have been 3 months long tops or has there been a time where an even larger break has taken place like Hunter X Hunter that takes even more then 6 months and close to a year sometimes?

The method of Miura's breaks between chapters seem to be like rolling two dices and multiply the result with a random number between 0,1 and 2. The result, in months, will be how long his next break will be...

This sea monster story stuff is totally annoying to me
It didn't feel any cool like the previous arcs. Guts got so socialised and the monsters don't feel cool but somewhat generic and not very innovative. The apostles at least had a certain style to them.

So nothing regular I guess, random breaks really are the hardest, no certain date of coming back, when does he announce if he is going to come back with the manga the following week?

Well it might be because we have yet to see the sea monster? Well a little theory from me is that now after the events that took place with Griffith him and his castle and the whole gap between fantasy and reality has caused many to become monsters/apostles (maybe). I think the sea monsters with the weird might not be apostles, but the sea god is since the sacrifice sign on Guts was bleeding.

Yes and to ad to that, the most funny thing about this arc is that it is called Elf island but so far ten chapters have passed and nothing, I understand Miura's smaller arcs can be long and et short at times. The Fantasia arc/saga would be long, but since this is the first sub-arc of it there ought to be at least one more.

I agree. Who knows, Muira may be already be dead. It may explain why the releases are slow to make out to the public.

The people who publish it most likely try to release the chapters as if Muira would do it, which takes them allot of months to do. It all makes sense now. Muira is probably not his real name, just his name as a mangaka, and the publishers continue to use his name even after his death.

If what I say turns out to be even "partially" true, then the people who run Shueisha, are business geniuses...

Berserk is published by Hakusensha, not Shueisha!

Berserk doesn't even need to be completed anymore. This manga has been updated so slowly that the fans of this manga already know the gist of how it will end.

Even if it does manage to end, it will feel like it didn't end because we may be expecting a new chapter even after Muira's death...

Muira may be a good story teller, and a good artist - but he is a very bad example as a mangaka. He clearly doesn't have enough passion to continue or complete this series. A very sad mangaka.

I thought he had..."issues" which is why he doesn't release chapters every/every other week. (He definately puts a lot of work into it; I've never read any manga that looked as REALISTIC as his work.)

And it really isn't that big a deal that he only serializes a volumes worth of chapters a year. There are plenty of series that aren't released in every issue of their anthology. REAL, Oyasumi Punpun, Hunter x Hunter, Homunculus have always had a limited number of chapters per year. Bereserk happens to be more famous internationally but it's release schedule isn't that remarkable.

This manga has been around for 23 years. The series "Berserk" is literally 6 years older than me. That's 6 years dude!!! EVEN TWELVE years is more than enough time to tell a GOD Damn story, even if it is drawn. We've witnessed many mangakas create over 500 chapters (within one series or more) in 12 years time.

All I'm saying is that it won't effect me at all if this manga never gets to finish, because it's already finished in my mind. I really don't see why a mangaka would even continue a series for this long when he releases so little "on purpose". Very pathetic.

Well i know one thing, when its all set and done....I'm going read it all from the start and be like OMFG this is so awesome! Then i will just love the series of movies the new anime will bring.
The prototype was released in 1988 and the first volume was the end of 1990.
by the way the news said the other day that our gen will last over 110 years so woot and no woot to being old and bah.

We are gonna get 3 chapters soon this year so i cannot wait.

If anyone is interested the nice folks at Kotonoha scanlated the first chapter of Wolfsmund, a series by one of Miura's former assistants. Only one chapter is scanlated, read it and you will immediately be able to tell the mangaka worked on Berserk. Links to the Manga Editors site can be found here.
