Re: Performing Odd Jobs For A Fee

Lol, I've written papers about it before too (last semester) only with a different angle. This theory just keeps poking it's way through to other subjects all the time, and since I had significant experience with the theory in my team I received the task of writing about it (again). It's a little boring but rather comforting when I've had about it so many times. I really hoped that the exam before Christmas in Advanced Business Strategy was my last time writing about the theory for a while, but it's awfully persistent.

Yeah, I'm not so sure that you'd come across it as much in reality as you do in school >,>'

Either way, it's good that you're used to write about it because that means you'd finish quicker so we can play 360 (fi-na-lly).

Re: Performing Odd Jobs For A Fee

Heh, it didn't last long at all as I'm back on the assignment track already (writing a paper now about strategic business development in relation to Porter's Five Forces for anyone who's interested).
Oh, that really sucks then. No spring break or whatever? :( And all your economics/business speak just flew right over the top of my head :eyeroll Hated economics, even if I did get an A in it eventually :3c Forces reminds me of physics, though, rather than business/econs...

Reversing can be pretty hard, especially when parking in tight spots so it's not exactly uncommon :XD Take a picture of it yeah! Is there long left of the practice runs?
I haven't learnt parking yet, hopefully I will over the next 2 days. But I'm not looking forward to it after how I was epic fail at reversing :p I'm at stage 3 of 5, now, so I think I can take the test in 2-3 weeks' time, depending also on when there are test dates available.

Except I don't have any games I want to play! But seriously, it's long overdue indeed.

It's not really economics like in numbers, but strategic thinking which is the best part of "economics" in my opinion. Porter's Five Forces is a model that explains the attractiveness of an industry by taking five elements into consideration. If each of the elements/forces are strong the market is unattractive and vice versa :)

Don't worry, you will get the hang of it quickly. Parking is a matter of trying a couple of times and then it's suddenly easy. I really sucked too but suddenly I got the hang of it.

My heart just sank like a rock in an ocean.

Easily the most interesting part of a business education. Strategic thinking. Loved every second of it. Understand the market, understand the actions and reactions, add some social psychology to it, some networking, ooh I'm getting excited already \o/

Hey. I have a job for you.

It involves M3J, and I'm fairly certain it's AIDS-free.

"If your request is bizarre, alien or just plain weird, set up a meeting. But in that case, bring sweets and please don't bring your pets!"

Let's see this job certainly sounds bizarre, alien and just plain weird. So we would have to set up a meeting. The question is, would you bring Milly to that meeting, and in that case does he go for a pet? Pets are not allowed.

Anyway this job better not be too weird :noworry

@Blai: I know right? I miss that subject. I wouldn't mind taking another subject that builds on advanced business strategy. Maybe advanced business strategy II? :p

That sounds kinda interesting, actually... :p Especially the way you and Blai put it. But I think I've been scarred for life by the way economics is taught in Singapore, or at least in my school. Everyone says economics is "common sense made difficult" :XD

I tried vertical parking and directional change today, which I was pretty bad at :crying Guess I haven't gotten the hang of it yet :( Parallel parking is probably going to be worse. Did you learn/are you driving a manual car? Heard most of Europe still uses manual :o

Oh and, any job that involves Milly is probably going to be weird :blink Don't risk it.

Yeah I learned to drive a manual car, and whenever I drive it's a manual one. Most cars over here are as you said, manual.

Can't you practice with your parents in Singapore? It could be really helpful, although you definitely learn a lot faster with a real teacher. One hour of driving with a teacher was more effective for me than days of driving with my mother.

That sounds epic! Advanced Business Strategy II, I'd take that course!
I'm actually considering maybe teach business and economy in high school. I mean, I could run a company on the side and still be involved with education AND businesses (with the UF (youth business) projects).

Bah, anyway, I want to be fifty different things in fourty different countries, I should just be quiet and eat my vegetables! :D

Automatic cars are just too boring to drive in the long run, even if some breaks from manuals is quite nice!

Ah, okay. Manual cars are pretty rare in Singapore. I'm learning manual only because most of Europe drives manual and if I ever go there I want to be able to drive :oh

My dad drives an auto car, though, so it's pretty useless since my main problems with driving is controlling the damn clutch :darn It's also illegal to practice with them, but who cares, I probably still will :amuse

Why wouldn't you want to teach? Don't tell me that you wouldn't have the patience because when in, for example, Uni, you only explain the shizzle once and then you're done. And you can refuse to answer any questions and just refer them to the literature.

That's what a true champ does xD

I could... But I've come so far, I'm not gonna give up now! :D

And teaching is kinda fun actually. I just tutored today and it's a really fulfilling job. Depends on the kids you get, I guess. If you get brats, then... Have fun :oh

Re: Performing Odd Jobs For A Fee

Teaching is highly unappreciated in Norway. I hate the haters, and as such I'm a hater. I wouldn't bother with anything below uni level if I were ever to teach. Elementary school is just filled with cocky brats, junior high is full of teenagers with their hormones on steroids, and high school is filled with so many slackers. Uni is however quite lovely and no one makes noise or are disrespectful towards the teachers, so that wouldn't be too bad I admit. I wouldn't mind being the handsome successful southern european looking young professor with awesome style :cheez

Well, I don't think there's any country where teaching is highly appreciated even though it should be since the teacher's are one of the creators of the next generation. Without good teachers there'd be trouble to create capable workers.
*Talking like the materialist I am. People are tools, created for someone's gain. Hurr di durr ok not really but I hope you know what I mean*

I don't know if I should go for College or High School. High school takes five years, College takes six or seven (because of PhD plus basic teaching courses).

Hah, you might just become that one. I know for sure that I'll be that hot, mysterious teacher who no-ones ever sees outside of the classroom and who sometimes disappear for a week or two for "business trips". The girls wanna have me, and the guys wanna be me
