A quick translation of Heiji sama article:
this year the jump serie kochikame from Osamu Akimoto started in 1976   will celebrate its 35 years of publication. On this occasion a special project will take place.

As for One Piece, Kochikame will appear, starting in August, in 13 of Shuiesha magazines. In each one, an unpublished short chapter of Kochikame can be found.
The project starts on august 3d with a chapter in Ribon magazine

An ENTIRE chapter? As in, a 15-page one?

That is crazy. Maybe they're tiny 5-page chapters? Or 4-komas?

Either way One Piece only had Luffy appearing on covers, right? (some not even by Oda) This is way above and beyond that.

It'll most likely be the same chapter...not a completely different chapter for every magazine.

It is easy for international readers to forget but Kochikame is an epochal manga in Japan. It is every bit the landmark that One Piece is, with the added stature of being much older. Short chapters in every magazine is nothing. For it's thirtieth anniversary a statue was erected of the main character. He also made a cameo in every WSJ series that week.

I heard that the mangaka of Kochikame has never taken a break in 35 years. Is that true?

It seems Sakaki Hisashi is not the Editor in chief of Shounen Jump anymore but is now the deputy director of shounen manga published by Shueisha.

From Sasaki's Tweeter
I stepped aside from the editor in chief of #SHONENJUMP and now is the deputy director of Shonen Manga group of Shueisha.
I oversee 4 magazines now. #Weekly SHONENJUMP, V JUMP, JUMP SQ. and SAIKYO JUMP which is scheduled to launch in December.

Well that's not exactly stepping aside. That's more like a promotion, which is awesome for him.

Well, good for him.
But probably with this promotion, we won't get so much detailed info about de WSJ as before.

By the way, the new editor in chief of WSJ is Heishi-san. He had served as an editor and editorial manager of WSJ and SQ. That's what Sasaki said.

I wonder this means Bakuman also going to change the editor in chief in their series.

So what exactly will Sasaki do in his new job?

He is in charge of all four Shueisha shounen magazines. When WSJ has a new editor in chief, Sasaki will be his boss.

The artwork of Stars reminds me Eyeshield 21 (I don't why).

I wasn't convinced by the first pic but that cover looks awesome.

Really like the coloring.

Amazing artwork.

Another WSJ protagonist with green hair! I guess it's easily identifiable.

It looks like Bakuman isn't the only "hopes and dreams" manga any more.
