I have a question: is the new Kurogane series the one based on the one-shot written by Hirakata Masahiro that got 4th place in the 2008 Gold Future Cup or the more recent one written by Haruto Ikezawa (the one that had a link posted here earlier). I'm asking this because I read somewhere that the series that will start in next week's Jump will be written by Hirakata Masahiro (the author of the 2008 Kurogane) so I just want to verify if it's true or not.

Logically it should be the one that released a One-Shot a short while ago[this/last month], as it goes with One-Shot->Serial adaptions. Why would they adapt a three year old OS now anyway? Wouldn't make much sense, not after reading Kezawas version.

Took a look at Tokyo Department War, really liked it.

I don't really think it'll get a series, but it'd be awesome if it did. I think it'd work better monthly than it would weekly.

Not neccessary since there are some examples of this happening, but your logic is correct.
I'm surprised that there wasn't any preview page for the new series available on 2ch... However, the lack of additional information could suggest that we'd only be getting one new incoming series this round (2 if you count HxH).

(The one that pops in to my mind right away is Gekka Bijin currently running in Jump SQ... It started in 2010 with the one-shot being featured in WSJ in 2000... a 10 year old one-shot :p)

It looks like Bakuman will be absent on next issue.

Hopefully Ohba's using that time for "research". This current arc really needs some extra TLC to avoid doing a Fullbring in the ToC.

Well I wouldn't worry about Magico or Enigma being canceled just yet, Since i don't think Harisugawa is going to rank well. I say it'll last no more than like 25 chapters like Anedoki did. I also have a feeling ST&RS will follow the course of Enigma. It'll rank pretty well then once the arc ends with them meeting the Aliens it'll fall off and stay in the bottom 5.

Kurogane will probably be cool but i have a feeling it'll end up like SWOT and falling apart. I actually hope WOLF X RED gets serialized since it was the most interesting in my eyes.

After reading all of this year's Golden Future Cup's one shots, this is the order of which I liked from best to least:

1. Murahagane, Hungry Joker
2. Takamagahara, Wolf x Red
3. Sins
4. Tsukimi no Soba

I got a very clear favorite, but I guess I'll also join the overall ranking routine:

1.) HUNGRY JOKER
-
2.) Tsukimi no Soba
3.) Takamagahara, Murahagane, WOLF x RED
-
-
-
4.) -SINS-

Is Hungry Joker a medical manga?

It is sci-fi fantasy and action manga.

In changing the subject, it looks like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure going to get both anime and live adaptation movies.

I found newly updated information for some Jump series' total printed copies:

One Piece (1~63) = 240,000,000
Hunter x Hunter (1~29) = 55,000,000
Bakuman (1~14) = 10,000,000

Where did you see this please?!

Do you mean a TV show or new OVA (or did you mean "anime movie and live adaption movie")? Any details? Rumor or confirmed?

I read Kurogane and while the One-Shot wasn't that great on the subject of pacing and details of the plot, the general concept was really solid and has potential. I would wager that its success lies in whether it could pull off drama or not (which is one of the most important parts of sports manga).

I thought it was really generic, but I'll give the series a shot. Having a kendo manga in Jump would be pretty fun.

It's nice that it's not soccer, but I have a feeling that this will be WSJ's next flop. It's good news for Enigma and Magico in 8 weeks, though. They just need a buffer to last until then.

Will we be getting a new series after Kurogane? We need replacements for Ikkyu and the GFC.

The premise that it will mostly be about one-hit strikes, at least I remember it a such, had put me off quiet a bit. If it's already limited to that, I don't see how the main character has much room to develop other than learning the techniques. His parents are to cliché too, accepting her like it's nothing.

The whole ghost thing reminded me way much of Hikaru no Go too.

Doesn't exactly look like a shining beacon of originality we're dealing with.

The idea of a ghost invading ones body is as old a tales themself..., so not really a point to critize. Shaman King used that concept to the max though.^^

1.) HUNGRY JOKER
2.) WOLF X RED
3.) Tsukimi no Soba
4.) Takamagahara
5.) SINS
6.) Murahagane

I wouldn't mind if 1, 2 or 3 were serialised next year.
