besides whats the point for them? more rights mean more money costs for it, this means the revenue must be higher for them which wouldn't be. i could imagine uk, but other non-english nation would not buy english translation of mangas, besides the point that the ipad isn't so well recieved in germany as in the usa. same goes for ebooks and kindle...
Serving your customers at the level they expect is expensive. Of course it's expensive. No matter the medium or industry, it's an expensive thing for a company. Viz is too cheap to pay it. Amazon and Apple aren't, and despite the lukewarm reception, their sales are growing.

Dunno how relevant that is to the thread, though.

@k-dom:
Do you know if this means that a volume of ONE PIECe has outsold a volume of NARUTO or that the combined volumes of ONE PIECE have outsold the combined number of NARUTO volumes, because if its the latter then it would be logical since OP has more volumes than NARUTO but if its the first one than yay! About time! Hopefully this becomes a global trend.
BTW does france air ONE PIECE or something? Maybe that helped the manga volumes?

It's hard to say since there is no figure in manga-news articles.
If you look here, all the articles which start with Meilleures ventes, are the top selling tankobon in France for a period of 2 months. It's difficult to say which beat which since they are not release at the same time (3 Naruto in 2011 in march, july, november against 4 One piece in january, april, september, and november).
What is certain is that according to ACBD, in 2010, each Naruto volume was printed at 250 000 copies against 'only' 90 000 for One Piece. Let's see what the figure will be in 2011.

And about the anime, I think both are broadcasted on TNT (new terrestrial numerical TV channel) recently. But I'm not to aware of that.

they will only show it around end of the month/start of the new one so you have to wait a bit. Some volumes show up beforehand but don't expect anything before the last days of october

Nura's gonna pass DGM and Claymore soon. That's crazy stuff. It doesn't feel like it's 19 volumes long. The same goes for Bakuman. It might be because each chapter is so jampacked with content, but it doesn't feel like it's 16 volumes long. I hope Ohbata ends it in the next nine volumes. I don't know if that's feasible, but you can definitely tell that Bakuman is winding down now.

Because weekly series release its volume much faster than monthly series.
I meant in terms of series length, not publication length. It's weird that Nura is getting as long as it is. It still feels like it's a brand-new series.

Back in the day, Nura would be poised to end soon. But the average series length in WSJ has drastically increased since the late 90s.
