Air Gear stopped being interesting quite a while ago tbh.
Its stopped being about the AT riding, and more 'what crazy bs can my regalia do'.
Then there's all this super saiyan sora, and 99% bull...
The only reason I read Air Gear now is boredom, and to see it through.

Mind you, a redeeming factor for me is that this current 'fight' is a straight race without using the sky/storm regalia (for now)...

Not all shonen manga need to be 'battle' manga.
Yes, some battle manga are awesome (One Piece).
But some manga start out with a great idea, yet low ratings make the mangaka turn to 'battle' in order to try and pick it up.
Another good example of this is 'Psyren'.
I would be happier if OG had stayed with the idea he started with and have it shorter, rather than dropping the quality to try and keep it going.

nono, that's the problem, it's very unlikely that OG didn't start with this idea considering all the hints dropped here and there in the first chapters

it's just that, i dunno, at one point it's as if he got bored and stopped trying to develop it properly...

Wall of text time....
Lol, i agree Ramstain....i like to finish what i start though, and reading a chapter takes like 2 minutes....well 4 in OGs case since i have to double take at some of the stuff he draws. Th art is still very good, but i find i lower my standards ( a loooooooot) in general when it comes to manga these days. I feel if you take it too seriously and analyze every detail you'll find assloads of glaring flaws and there goes the enjoyment. I feel that this plagued the manga community in general which is why a lot of discussions devolve into bashfests regarding the author and his ability, or lack of, to tell a story. This brings me to what carnevil said about the shounen hand book, the youngest person on this page is 18, meaning we've all been around the block when it comes to this genre and i honestly feel we're a bit jaded as well as a bit older than the intended target audience. It got to the point where i stopped following every manga completely since my feelings on them were similar to how sabretoothe is feeling about the state of AG. I mean....its sad how often lately you can read a chapter of AG w/o TLs and know exactly whats going.

So while its sad that i had to lower my standards to enjoy my manga, i haven't really been O: about AG since the sleipnir fight..the dragging...and dragging and DRAGGING of the battle on the ship arc would have been a deal breaker if it wasn't for this manga called Medaka box, idk if anyone else reads it but it basically mocks the shounen genre blantantly and subtley while masked as something serious, from the the battle manga genre shift, to the constant asspulls. I read it after i finish reading my weekly manga and it just puts everything into perspective and gets rid of the bad taste some chapters leave lol.

Hi guys!
I already read a lot of the discussions posted here and enjoyed it a lot.....
There are really interesting topics with very good theories/ opinions etc.....
Sadly I did not see any thread about a theme which really interests me in Air Gear:
Tuning!
What I want is to see what other members/ readers of Air Gear think, know and asume about it, I want to learn more about it and compare my knowledge and thoughts to those of other people
I hope I did not made up a thread which has already been started somewhere,
if yes, please note me.
I also hope a lot of people will be interested in starting discussions/ sharing their knowledge etc.!

So Rika who is suppose to be stronger then Nike is taken out in one move. Well at least it's better then some cheesy overly dramatic thorn vs thorn battle.

So Simca magically got her A-T's back. A-T's that magically disappeared in one chapter. As for her now having on panties I going to assume every Japanese helicopter has a panty vending machine inside them.

oh carnevil, panty dispensing vending machines are everywhere in japan including standard issue police helicopters.

but yes, simca and her magical disappearing and reappearing a-ts are one the new wonders of the world.

finally in all seriousness, looks like ringo activated the sub regalia she has... not much of a difference in appearance but supposedly more power to her tricks. i do find it funny that she was unable to break the bulk head shutters yet she just as easily broke through the wall of the tower... i must say, that is kinda silly but at the same time its not unheard of in the real world to have a 'door' more sturdy than the 'wall' it is connected to. as for what happened to rika, i think ikki's attack actually hit the device on her neck which is why she was easily taken out... the device getting destroyed may have sent a shock to her brain and knocked her out.

summary time~

-we pick up from where ikki claims that he must overcome the '2 meters' on his own (aka beat sora). sora closes the bulkhead shutters on ringo's side. rika and sora double team ikki since ringo won't be able to get past those shutters very easily. on ringo's side we see her barely making any damage on the shutters. plugman tanaka relays minami's explanations that the shutters are made of tungsten carbide (3 times sturdier than steel and resistant to scratches. off topic, tungsten rings will never wear down - something i learned during my time working retail in jewelry).

-back with sora/rika and ikki. sora acknowledges that ikki is quite strong. agito is commenting on how things are progressing and how sora is demonstrating his way of thinking. (there's a funny bit because one of the words is pronounced 'kazu' and buccha misinterprets agito in thinking that kazu (their teammate) did something) agito clarifies that what he meant was the way a weaker person fights.

-agito uses the classroom as an example and how ikki alone takes on the rest of the class. naturally the advantage should go to the rest of the class (by sheer numbers). sora's using that kind of example in how the 99% weak people win against the 1% stong person. buccha still thinks this is about kazu (cause they regard kazu as the 99% category; LOL). inuyama tries to reprimand buccha with his signature hair hammer move... and fails ^^;; inuyama complains how they are doing nothing despite how their friend is fighting.

-simca (with her newly procured panties and magical disappearing/reappearing a-ts) interjects and says that they aren't just doing nothing but that they are believing in ikki (and ringo). agito finally adds in how if it's ikki and if there are no paths, then he'll break it down to make a new one. at that moment, ringo busted a hole on the side of the tower and goes outside. looking at the gauge again, tanaka and the ttt member see that it's still freezing outside. despite both of their protests, ringo continues on and is 'doing what ikki would do' (aka break out and make a new path). she activates the sub regalia and creates friction in the atmosphere with her sub regalia's whips to negate the freezing temperatures.

-simca thinks to herself how ringo is following in ikki's wings/way of doing things. she relates how just one person was able to show others the way to find their own 'strength'. ringo is happy that she's now able to 'fight' like ikki and the worldwide audience are once again in awe of what ringo just demonstrated (the ikki way of doing things).

-back with ikki, he's shown with his shadow breaking out of the cage and just as rika is coming in for an attack, ikki counters and rika is knocked out. agito reiterates the chapter's main focus of how ikki will always make a new path by breaking out of the cage. ikki seems rather solemn as he says to himself that he managed to pull it off (makes me think that ikki finds that all of that happened too easily)

I love how in the Air Gear world unconventional thinking is considered special. Ikki making his own path is something to admire like nobody else can do it unless Ikki shows them. People in Air Gear must be really stupid if they are impressed when somebody thinks outside the box.

sarex is right... though i would say that people in the real world may 'think' outside box, but very few actually 'act' on it. sadly, people are easily complacent becoming sheep and going with the herd simply because its easier.

I love how in the Air Gear world unconventional thinking is considered special. Ikki making his own path is something to admire like nobody else can do it unless Ikki shows them. People in Air Gear must be really stupid if they are impressed when somebody thinks outside the box.

Thats like saying this world must be stupid since it has success stories of people behind Nintendo, Google, Facebook, IPod/Phone/Pad...etc.

In the real world thinking outside of the box is a highly sought after skill/ability as well...
