rephrase, why should even out the volume 30 of HxH?
Are you talking about why volume 30 has released? If it is, then volume 30 for HxH hasn't been released yet; it only released to volume 29 so far.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

two ideas:
1) he wants to know why so many published chapter of hxh aren't released yet as a volume. or
2) he wants to know who togashi has so many hiatuses. but either of them are answered almost every 3 pages of the thread along discussions about the story of bleach, so i'm unsure if i interpreted it rightly or he doesn't look same pages earlier for it.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

So far, it doesn't seem like Togashi is stopping immediately. At some point, if he continues, they'll probably release a volume 30 rather than release 3+ volumes at once after a hiatus. I'd say if he goes past chapter 340 without a "long" haitus, that's pretty likely.

I used to keep track of this more, but from series to series, how big the buffer between volumes and magazine chapters varies somewhat. Some can be like 30 behind, and some (like Gintama) can be like 7-12. Obviously the volumes will come out eventually, they probably just want to maintain a buffer and time the releases when they would be most profit gaining. Like they released 28 and 29 of HXH right before serialization restarted, that way people would be encouraged to buy the volumes then start reading the magazine. What timing they'll use if he continues into the long term is anyone's guess.

I'd also think it depends on how often the author in question takes a break. Though of course I don't have any data that quantifies this so....but using Gintama as an example, Sorachi rarely takes breaks and when he does it's only for about a week. Compared to HXH or better- One piece that takes breaks a bit more frequently, it would make sense that the buffer is a bit wider. Of course sometimes I think breaks are sometimes timed to garner interest and give audiences a sense of 'anticipation'.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Woo, like everyone posts the translations at once.

Anyhow... pretty normal. Toriko's at the top...
Uh, Bakuman is kinda low, considering what's been going on. I suppose this is before the end of the last arc.
Nisekoi is still doing well.
Stars still isn't canceled, I guess.
Sket Dance and Medaka Box are kinda low.
And Beelzebub has been doing well the last few issues.
Kurogane is doing good enough to not get canceled, it seems. I haven't been keeping track of it much recently.

I'll be interested in seeing how these new series do. They're both by authors who got canceled in the past. I don't remember Dogashi Kaden, but we'll see ho they go. Does anyone know what these two are about?

Haikyu!! is a volleyball manga; it already released one shots in both Shonen Jump and Jump Next. Pajama na Kanojo is a romcom/fantasy manga.

Even though ohana didn't write anything about ST&RS ending, it probably did.

She didn't write that Kagami finished last week either but it did.

Yeah, I agree with you. St&rs should end this issue to make a room for Pajama na Kanojo.

Probably by the same reason it was absent in past weeks: none that we care or has any meaning to us. Normally they say "gathering material" or something, but nothing to care about, it's relatively common.

The end of the chapter 657. It will take a break in the next issue and be back in #14.

Nice TOC this week all may fav are doing well so I have quarrels. So ST&RS isn't ending this week or next week huh?

Haikyu!! is a volleyball manga; it already released one shots in both Shonen Jump and Jump Next. Pajama na Kanojo is a romcom/fantasy manga.
Another romcom? Ugh...

Not this again... another action manga would be ugh³, but to have one romance within two dozen action/comedy series is nothing harmful. One position should be reserved for a non-a/c manga Imo.

I really want to read those one-shots, is there a list of the past ones or do I have to rummage through past ToCs?

I think the complaint is that recently there's been a string of rom-coms, magico, kagami, nisekoi so it's not completely unwarranted.
But I agree, I'd rather a rom com than another action series. (though there are other genres I'd prefer above even that)

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Completely blacked out Nisekoi, but is Magico that centered around romance?
...
Just read the first chapters of Magico, I see the romance part, but from skimming through other chapters, it seems to be a good variation from the normal s.o.l rom-coms with a good portion of action, I read shojo/josei for typical romance :P. Another WSJ manga on the to-read list. I'm quiet glad it's out of the bottom 5, so I won't have to worry about a cancelation for now.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

There are always whiners and complainers whenever a new non-action manga starts. There were complaints about new sports manga too. Whenever it is a new romcon the complaints seem to get the loudest, unless Kawashita is involved. I liked Dogashi Kaden, an unjustly neglected manga, and really want to see what his new series has to offer. I never read Yotsuya but might give this volleyball series a chance, if it's scanlated.

I personally found Magico boring. Just another manga about teenagers with magical powers and hearts o' gold. Not really bad but nothing particularly impressive either. Nothing wrong with manga tropes so long as the title is entertaining but I found myself predicting dialog, not just plot.
