Yep, Big annoucement , Mangastream is dropping jump series, Edited Manga in the US is living a hard time, like Onemanga before them, Now, the question is, what will happen ?
Nah. Manga Editors will be fine. Online readers and aggregation sites are the only ones who need to worry :)
Everyone will get there mangas. No need to worry, might have to go to two or three sites instead of one though. [Cross] or raDar could confirm but I highly doubt any other groups Editing Jump Comics were sent cease & desist orders.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto I don't mind so much since they are in Shonen Jump Alpha (4 chapters behind isn't all that bad). Claymore, HxH, and D. Grey are not all that behind with volume releases, but I'll still find other groups to gravitate towards to read the newest chapters (especially for HxH). Lastly, I didn't even realize VIZ still had the rights to Reborn....wasn't the last volume released in 2010? o.O I wonder when their license expires...

If it's not MangaStream, then it'll be another Manga Editor... Probably the quality'll drop but there's no way for VIZ to stop the fansubs...

Somebody else'll pick them up, in the end. Mangastream did do a good job though, and they were dedicated. I'll give them that respect.

From what I understood Fairy Tail is not concerned since it is not a jump serie.
As for the others Manga Editors, it's easy : mangazone. Except that they did only naruto recently and we don't know how they will react to this since they are very close from mangareader and mangareader may not want to be the next on the list

Yeah I haven't. My guess is they're only focusing on targeting groups that release series that they've licensed.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

ho-hum! i feel very sad! :(
I had been looking forward to the newest chapter of HxH and hitman reborn every week for years that it had been part of my routine. It'll left a hole in my life but (hopefully) time will heal that... ;__;
Anyway now i have a good reason to work harder on my japanese... OR Chinese. Because i know we'll have to wait till the apocalypse to happen before anything can stop the Chinese Manga Editors. :p

Maybe this is already an old news, but check this out:

---
anyone knows for what event are these (awesomesauce) tributes for? Are there more of this (because i noticed some mangakas' are missing) and where can i find them?
anyway, i can't express my fangirl scream in textual forms, but i totally LOVE Ohba's (for the atmosphere), Amano's (for the squee-worthy bishounen) and Sorachi's (for the lulz factor). *______*

Is that really Kishimoto's drawing?Seems he was drunk while doing it.

Inoue's is the best by far.

I'm partial to Araki's. I like Yabuki's a lot too.

Seriously bro? You can do what you want sure, but I think your intent is twisted.
Yeah i'm serious, i buy the tankobons, for my favorite series.
They can say all they want, but they don't provide what fan groups does. So when that happens, they are in no position to demand anything imo from a group that hurts them less than the onlined readers out there. They do their "ethic" i do mine.

And as long as i'm concerned that alpha online thing, they dont reach alot of contries, including mine, so what am i suppossed to do, wait for the tankobons?

Not exactly, my point was you're mad that mangastream won't be releasing your manga?
I'm pretty sure they weren't the only game in town... Some one else is going to be Editing the stuff...
This move seems to be them making a statement more than anything else.

Though, what you said here

"they are in no position to demand anything imo from a group that hurts them less than the onlined readers out there"

Who... do you think provides the online readers with the content in the first place?
We're not entitled to the manga for free. We have it easy.

Anyway, I've said my share, I'll try not to derail this thread any further.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I wanted to ask this question, why should even out the volume with 30 chapters of HxH yet we forward many (26 and 12 jumps). Togashi laziness!? marketing choice or the WSJ?

I think his question means why Hunter is getting many hiatus.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I think he's referring to the fact that Hunter x Hunter volumes don't follow the release pattern of other series' volumes, and that there's quite a lot of chapters which haven't been released in volumes yet. I think he wants to know why.
