I do think a drop shot has something to do with it. According to Sai, he believes it is Sanada standing in the middle of the court at the net, returning every shot his opponent hits at him with his long reach. This would explain the "immovable" aspect of the technique. Perhaps the drop shot is how he gets the point.

The reason we've never seen it is because Konomi doesn't know how to make it work. It's kinda hard to make it work like the others, and the fact that it's a "defensive" technique doesn't help either.

Fair enough I'll take it back.

Can Bane use Acrobatic Play?

http://www.mangareader.net/343-47019-7/new-prince-of-tennis/chapter-23.html

He says ''til we try'' at the bottom left.
I don't know WHY I was bored and started reading the pair puris. Look at this!

"PairPuri vol. 2 Tezuka x Shiraishi CAPTAINS
Let's Ask Those Volleyers! [pg. 36-37]

The players in the boxes were chosen as the best volleyers!!
Featuring all the players participating in the U-17 camp. We tried asking who they recognised as volleyers.

(...)

Aerial Combination (Kurobane Harukaze / Rokkaku)
Both the variety of his volleys and his control of his position in the air were great. Clumsy as I am, I can't do it. (Kawamura)"

I don't know if he's an acrobatic player, but apparently is great doing volleys (I always thought that Davide was the one that tend to do volleys in that pair, taking advantage of his long racquet). Now that I think about it, he's a serve and volley player...

(sorry if this is 4 months old lol)

This is also what made me wonder about it, I've read page of Shin Pair Puri's available online.
This just confused me.

Thing is, we will never know. We will never get to see Kurobane in a match again.

Stuff that Sai said about Zan at some point:

Zan = Immovable. It's pure defense. A Mountain stands still and is unyeilding. I think the best analogy is one a coach of mine has said about the tennis court. A tennis court is the ultimate returner, no matter what you hit at it, it bounces it back. So the same a mountain is. No matter what you throw at it, nothing takes it down in one hit. You have to uses it's own strategy against it.
Zan = A Perfect Defense. From what we've seen it's close to the net and utilizes a drop shot as one of it's finishers. The actual text describes it an an Iron Wall of Defense which cannot be taken down that crushes the opponent by drawing them into a long drawn out battle of attrition. I'm fairly certain Sanada uses his amazing height and superb control to keep the ball just out of reach of the opponent so when they return it it has to go back to him or close to him so he doesn't have to waste stamina and when they're finally too exhausted to run a ball down anymore he finishes it was that drop ridiculously close to the net.
Hope that helps.

So basically it's gives a Tezuka Zone-like effect by carefully placing the ball. By hitting strong shots at certain places of the court, Sanada can force the opponent to hit the ball towards him.

So Zan is Sanada's version of TZ, I guess.

It looks like it´s a mix between Davide´s net play (yeah, I named him in my last post, just a coincidence) and TZ.

I hope that Marui-Kite´s doubles match ends quickly, I want to see Sanada playing.

Superb control I can believe though.
Now that I think about it, Zan is more the style of play a Counterpuncher would use then.

Akutsu, Chinen, Chitose, Inui, Renji, Kabaji, Ootori, Gin, Krauser. Amane, Kawamura are the same height. Too lazy to look up the HSers.

And yeah, it's pretty much like counter punching.

Your list is missing Higashikata and Tetsu from PoT,

And of the HSers: Mouri, Ochi, Tokugawa, Oni, I could go on.
Like I said, there's a lot of guys taller than Sanada is.

It sounds similar to the way Ochi played though.

Even though there are characters that are taller than Sanada, that still doesn't mean Sanada isn't tall. Also, Sanada is physically stronger than more than half the people that are taller than him. He is the perfect all-rounder in my opinion. Teleportation, Broken techniques, Excellent strength, I mean come on.

And even more right now, for me, physically, should be at Oni's level right now maybe, or even stronger due to Black Aura.

I wonder if Konomi will scrap FuuRinKaInZanRai for Black Aura. I mean, there isn't much use for his original technique compared to Black Aura.

Even if BA allows him to make super amazing shots that outclass all the FuuRinKaInZanRai ones (which we haven't completely confirmed yet, although it's certainly something you could argue), I see no reason why he wouldn't still use Rai's movement and In.

I think Konomi will give Sanada advanced forms of the FuuRinKaZan like Fuji's counters.

FFS, you're 100% Sanada man.
He isnt that tall in the series if there are many players taller than him. That is the bottom line.

So I'm saying that height shouldnt really be the main factor in Zan otherwise everybody taller than him should be able to pull off Zan.

When you say physically stronger than more than half, are you including HSers in that? Since you can't confirm such a statement.

And yeah, he is like a perfect All-Rounder.

No, the bottom line is there are like 100+ characters in PoT and you were able to list like what, 5 that are taller?. He is still amongst the tallest in the series. Not only that, but the first time we even see Sanada, the emphasis is on his large figure.

No? That's like saying everyone Ochi's height should be able to pull off Mach serves.

Yes I will include HSers, because most of them were not even shown to be that strong physically. They are all pretty average with the obvious exception of Oni and Babe Ruth. I would put Byodouin as a Sanada type character. He probably isn't primarily a power player, but he is naturally strong.

We mentioned 11. Don't know how you've cut that down to 5.

There are a lot of guys bigger than him in this U-17 Camp. That is the bottom line.

No? That's like saying everyone Ochi's height should be able to pull off Mach serves.
Actually you're wrong here since its partly because of his gift of height that Ochi pulls of Mach Serves.
Your example isn't really valid sense since there is nobody else anywhere near 226cm in this series and the fact that it was said by the Data guys its coz of his height that his serve is amongst the best we've seen.

Sanada type? lol you mean a strong All-Rounder i'm guessing.

Miyako Shinobu had a 5 in power, there is no guarantee Sanada is a 5 in Power.
Date Danji I believe is stronger than Sanada, along with Ban Rikiya.
I don't think Sanada is stronger than Byoudouin.

Ishida Tetsu and Ishida Gin are givens too.
Kabaji Munehiro is likely stronger.
Liliadent Krauser another one I believe.
Kawamura is stronger too.

Yeah its more than half but really and truly I believe its the balance of extremely high technique with high power and solid speed and the high Mental I believe Sanada has that makes Zan so effective.

Please just admit that you're wrong.

If the average height of the tennis population is 5'8 and there are people who are 6'0 - 6'3, they are tall. It doesn't matter if there were 50 people taller than 5'8, they are ALL tall.
