It can indeed be very attempting. Sometimes I fall down as well, and later kinda regret because the feeling when you know see that actually happens is lost a bit.

I don't know. I think I just like to know what to expect. I stop reading A Song of Ice and Fire because I know in the future, I'll keep making expectations and the author will keep breaking my expectations (I've had my heart broken because somehow, my favorite characters are always the ones who die). I'm just not that masochistic.
And knowing the ending beforehand doesn't really disturb me when reading the whole story, because I still like to know how a story develops until it reaches the end.

That seems to be the case.

Even worse when you have friends around you who really like to spoil you. I have two friends like that, and they can be amazingly annoying at times.

I like spoilers so friends like that is good for me. Sometimes they help me to find new anime or manga. I'll ask "Is it good? How does the story goes?" and if from their story I think it's interesting, I'll watch/read it. That way, we can discuss lots of things. Talking to my friends who hate spoiler is harder because I have to wait until they reach that certain point, but by the time they're there, I won't have the interest to talk about it anymore...
Thankfully, my friends here mostly like spoilers.

Okay, that's too much. I can't notice any other kanji but for "watashi", "anata", and "Nihon". Spare me, Dora-sensei! ()

I'm kind of doing self-studying for Japanese so my kanji sucks big deal. Grammar wise not so good either.

Ask Xophien how he did it. He's completely self-taught and it blows my mind how he was able to translate something like ES21 and Kuroko.

Really?! That's so cool!!! ... I wish I can be like that somehow. At least can carry on conversation in Japanese.

I studied Japanese in high school but that was only some kind of bonus lesson. So it wasn't very serious, the study was rather laid back and fun, and we didn't study kanji. I only remember some basics, though. So now trying to study it a bit more properly. I was planning to take a course but with my schedule I'm getting worried.

That reminds me that I think there is a Japanese staying in my place as well...

I'm also a self-taught most of the time too. Translating ES21 is a hard work, I admire Xophien to be able to do that. I also admire translator who are not native in English and Japanese and be able to translate Seinen/Josei stuff.

As for Kanji... use flash cards and radicals as tools to help you with memorization. Within 3 months, I'm sure you'll able to memorize at least around 200.

Yeah. The place I'm staying near campus is a combination of guest house (at the first floor) and boarding house (at the second floor). I think there are some Japanese downstairs. XD

Tae Kim's website is a good way to learn Japanese grammar for free. Of course it does not cover every grammar within Japanese language, nonetheless it's very reliable considering that it's free. The pay-per-lesson site, did you mean Textfugu?

It's basically an intensive assignment. Since you have way more hours available, as well as all resources you can think of, more is expected of you, naturally. I pretty much finished after 3 hours like a normal exam here usually consists of, and would have likely gotten a decent grade from it in that case. But I had to polish it for hours to make it good in terms of being a home exam.
