Japan has a great culture and everything about it is fascinating. The landscape, architecture and lifestyle are amazing. And I recently came across this martial art called Aikido which derives its style from the samurai tradition. What struck me most about it is the spiritual side and how it teaches its student to be one with nature and everything in the world. It is really amazing. So if you plan on going there I hope you will make it happen. I would love to go live there myself, but sadly I live in Morocco.

yeah,i agree that the samurai was a cool part of their history...but i always found it such a waste of great men to have to commit suicide because of shame/dishonor...i think that was just taking it over the top with their code...

read shigurui...it goes into the dark aspects of the samurai...not just their glories

I have to agree that committing suicide and too much violence for honor is taking it too far. Perhaps that is the reason the founder of Aikido based his art on defense alone and disarming the attacker. It is more gentle.

Also, the old times bear witness to all of forms of violence across the globe, not just Japan.
