Before FMA Brotherhood came out, I've watched the first series already. And actually, it's the reason I watch Brotherhood; I want to see Ed and Al again in a better story. If I watched Brotherhood first, I'm not sure I'll watch the first series too since some things just don't make sense to me which is understandable considering it deviates from the manga quite a lot.

Yeah, you have to watch them. To be honest, I like Shinkai's work more than Miyazaki's, but it's just my taste in story.

Nah, I've always been like this, it's just that I don't show it often. But I think lately it intensifies because I'm just too depressed with my dissertation and my life in general. *sigh* That's why I need series that won't make me depressed. The funny thing is that I choose horror and gory series to entertain me. I think I'm so depressed that I laugh when someone is gutted or a ghost shows up. Or maybe that's just my psycho side surfacing. You know what, I watch Shingeki no Kyojin with a smile on my face, and laugh when someone's going to die or eaten (and note it that a lot of people die in that show) but I watch romantic comedy series with a cringe on my face.

I'm not sure it will be a good read. I've lost interest in writing it.

There must be a reason why you're feeling like that though. The fact that you watch SnK for the horror and get excited by it is so weird, it's creepy. As much as I'd say for you to watch shows that would make you laugh and lighten your mood, I wouldn't have recommended SnK or anything horror to help with that

It's kind of a huge disappointment for me since I pretty much remember quite a lot of the book, so it's hard not to make comparison.
Jace is a disappointment. Indeed. I already disliked how he looks in the trailer (my friend said he looks like a junky) and I was hoping his acting will be good, but... gee, his whole character is actually changed. That guy is not Jace. No no no. Jace is arrogant, and insufferable. That guy is just kinda mysterious and romantic.
Alec? Well, I don't really approve of Kevin Zegers since he's a far cry of the Alec in my imagination. Alec is supposed to be more handsome than Jace, but here... well, both of them don't look handsome. And in the movie, all we can see is the jealous side of him, while he is actually more than that.
Magnus? Yeah, he's HOT. However, I was expecting Sonic the Hedgehog, not this tall, dark, and handsome Asian guy. Not that I really complain about it. I love that black coat of his. Oh, and I got to say I'm actually impressed by the Silent Brothers. They look like what they're supposed to look like.
I wasn't paying attention to the other cast other than the teenagers, which was why I was surprised to see Cersei Lannister (I don't know her real name) as Jocelyn. I had this weird feeling since I keep seeing Cersei, the ruthless queen in Game of Thrones, but thankfully her acting is good enough that later on I can see Jocelyn, the badass mom.
In the end, the only cast who did a great job for me is Simon. He is so very Simon.
Oh, and don't get me started on the story. They don't even mention anything about parabatai (though it is an important concept in the book), or even Isabelle's and Alec's last name. Many important details are lost. Some scenes too. They also move the location of the confrontation with Valentine. It's making it look like the Institute is that easy to breach, even with an inside traitor.
Heh, I'm even disappointed with Raziel's statue. He doesn't look so angelic to me, more like a winged warrior.
I was also expecting the gesture of calling the blade's name when they want to make it active, but maybe it's a bit complicated. But I want to hear Angels' names...
Well, I know well that adapted movies has a hard time to be as good as the book, but still I wish it's better than this. Even for my friends who have never read the book, they said this movie is just okay, but not memorable.

Sure, it's not like JCB looks like my Jace (been in the AP boat for too long), but I was ready to accept him with open hands, not wanting to be an ungrateful bitch... but.. Jace was very, very disappointing. Sorry, dallie, there's no excuse. I don't understand why JCB looks like a HIV/drug user to my eyes and my friends' eyes who watched it. And he lacks that arrogance, cocky self Jace is supposed to have. Even though he described it perfectly in an interview I saw on YouTube, I couldn't feel that from him in the movie. I was prepared to forgive him if he could play Jace's character well, but unfortunately he didn't reach it, IMO.

Isabelle and Alec and other characters lack screen time for character development, IMO. Not only they miss the last name, we don't even see the parents, and they kick Max away like he's nothing important. Well he may not play any special role in the book, but still... Small details. Magnus was the one I was surprised of, mainly because I had completely forgotten his details from the book. Then an Asian came. And looking so hot on top of it, lol. But his screen time was perhaps less than 10 minutes, making a high warlock from Brooklyn looks like a simple decoration to the plot. Simon is.. Simon, I agree. Didn't seem different from the book, poor as usual, lol.

I won't touch the plot because it doesn't have to be explained how far it differs. XD

To me, Danila's face is okay, although my Dimitri has a completely different body shape and should look younger, but I never exactly cared about height or body shape or things like that much before, so I'm really really okay with him. There's something about him I really like, plus I can't wait to hear his Russian accent ^w^ And Zoey is SO MUCH like my Rose it's scary xD Lissa fits my ideal almost perfectly too.
Richelle seems so much hyped for the movie, completely adores everything they do to it, so I really have high hopes. VA is, I think, my #1 series of ever (although that's so difficult to judge, maybe it would be better to say that it's in my top 5 most epic forever in heart series xD), so I'm just really excited we're getting a movie, I want to treat it as a standalone though so that if it turns out different than I imagine, I'll still accept it.
And I want to know who they cast for Adrian so I want a continuation so I want it to do well. xD (Max Irons#1 forever)

Btw I basically read the whole Inheritance page by page for the first time only recently, and... God that book is boring. It's been a while since Inheritance came out and now I think the exact opposite of what I thought then, now the only thing I liked was "after the war"; more or less. Or maybe just the part where Eragon returns to Brom's tomb. Because Brom is my favorite character. Err. Unbiased >.<

I had to return to Eragon (book I) to find out whether it's me that changed and like things a little different, and... yes, a big part is that. I used to love Eragon a lot, but rereading Eragon now (I've read it many times before xD) I realized I find many characters I liked annoying now, that I do think less details (less useless crap) would make them better, that my opinions on things changed (I used to be a diehard Eragon x Arya fan, I even have "ExA" written on my bed at home in ballpoint pen lol xD, but now I agree with Arya when she's trying to explain to him that he's too much of a child, she's too old, maturity levels are different etc (Eldest mostly iirc), because it's true and I failed to see it before xD). Inheritance was just too boring for me though, I thought nothing exciting happened throughout the whole book, and it's not because I knew what's gonna happen

I was also in the AP boat but well... we know it sank. I was a bit disappointed at first but then I decided to give him a chance. If his looks was not gonna save him, probably his acting would, but then... *sigh*

Seems like we have the same opinion and reasons. JCB probably looks like that because he is so pale-skinned with tired eyes. His blonde hair is not helping because it makes his overall appearance seems worse. He actually will look good as one of Twilight's vampire, I think.

For me, Rose does not seem as tough as I imagine (I was imagining more muscles), but well, we'll see later. And yes, Lissa looks ideal.
I really like VA too, so I do hope they'll do the movie well.

Haha. My impression of that book is not boring, more to the point of dizzying. I used to read a few pages and I'd get headaches already. I only like reading it because it takes so much of my time to read it (Back then, I had a lot of time to spend) and elves. Oh, and the ancient language too. I like to read and try to sound them.
Brom. I can't say I really like him, but I do like him better than most of the characters.

I think the only book I like in that series is Brisingr. The rest? Meh. As a series, I don't like how the plot goes. Since Eldest, I have the feeling the series' ending will not be good, since from the start, Eragon is kind of a doomed hero with no hope of winning the war. He fails too many times for my taste. I think that's part of his character development, but I don't think he grows that much as a character. In fact, the character who actually grows is Nasuada, I think. Imagine my disappointment when reading the ending. It's the ending that is expected (even by the author) so it's really disappointing for me. For me, ending is a really important part because even if the start is good but the ending is bad, the whole story just kinda shatter. That's my case for Harry Potter. I used to like HP so much, but after I read the end, for me the series is just blah. Eragon has it worse since I don't even like it that much, and the ending just ruined it all.
I understand writing an ending is soooooo difficult, especially for series, but still... I can't help but to think that there are better endings for some series. (That's why I don't want to be an author. I know I'm just going to disappoint my readers. :|)

I felt like Paolini changed his idea about the ending throughout books II, III and IV. So many things felt just not... clicking. Either that, or he wanted to troll some since the beginning. I mean the dream, from book I coming back in book IV, about him leaving Alagaesia? It just felt so much like at first the plan was really for him to get with Arya and leave together.... because it was given so much importance in the dream, about the two people leaving together....... and then she "goes with him until the bend of the river"? wtf? Arya being allowed as a Rider to stay feels weird too...

Btw there are already english translations for Sapphire Blue and Green too, I just didn't find an ebook When my connection is better sometimes, I'm gonna use amazon's audible offer to get an audiobook for free I guess, or I'll just buy it.

I felt like Paolini changed his idea about the ending throughout books II, III and IV. So many things felt just not... clicking. Either that, or he wanted to troll some since the beginning. I mean the dream, from book I coming back in book IV, about him leaving Alagaesia? It just felt so much like at first the plan was really for him to get with Arya and leave together.... because it was given so much importance in the dream, about the two people leaving together....... and then she "goes with him until the bend of the river"? wtf? Arya being allowed as a Rider to stay feels weird too...

Btw there are already english translations for Sapphire Blue and Green too, I just didn't find an ebook When my connection is better sometimes, I'm gonna use amazon's audible offer to get an audiobook for free I guess, or I'll just buy it.

Well, we'll never really understand why he wrote it like that, I suppose. Maybe he just didn't find any satisfying ending either. Well, the story indeed is too complicated that finding an ending that will be able to satisfy all parties and tying up all the loose ends will be hard.
