I forgot which chapter, but the a panel has the day and date of the national tournament, and it was in the year 20XX, so that means out of the possible years (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, ... 2098), the earliest that have that date on that day is 2014.

Well, in the PairPuri interviews Irie only said he thought his height was 178 cm and his weight 66kg. He didn't know for sure, so this is just Konomi correcting Irie.


Currently, I have the series timeline on the wikia listing 2008 as the current year, even though Fuji technically shouldn't be born. However, 2008 is the most logical year for series to be happening in especially when you're comparing to what each character has on their want list.

Power - 1: His issue is with his Physical side. Even though he is of slender build, he still should find a way to increase the efficiency of his muscles.

Stamina - 2: WIth his short stamina, he is unsuited to long drawn out matches. However, taking into account that even when he forfeited the Atobe match, it looked as if he still had stamina left to spare. Frankly, it's unfathomable.

Mental - 7: With his unmatchable Mental strength, He relies on his acting skills to toy with his opponents. He can freely control his own emotions at will.

Technique - 6: Once he sees his opponents reactions, he has the high level skill of instantly changing the balls trajectory and shot type.

Kurobe Memo:
He is fascinated with developing a match by setting up scenese and performances. However, with his current balance, it limits the kinds of opponents he can win againt. He really needs to build up his physical side.

Also, even with 2008 or 2014 as the year this takes place...Most of these characters are using rackets that are near decades old...most of them not very good rackets at that.

That said, most of the first string are using rackets that have come out within the last few years.

That's because Konomi gives characters rackets that are out at the time he creates those characters.
He created the basically of all his Kanto characters in like 1999/2000? Since it was first published in 1999.

One of the filler episodes, Episode 134- My Prince, proves that the anime universe takes place during 2004. The anime only characters, twins Ijuin Narumi and Ijuin Kurumi, are born on March 20, 1995 and are fifth grade elementary school students, which makes them only nine years old (they have over half a year before they turn ten, the appropriate age for their grade). Add the nine years to their birth year, and we're at 2004.

Can there really be a high schooler that is already this high a level? There is nothing to criticize about his true abilities, but his manners are crude. We should teach him some more respectful manners so he doesn't embarass the title of baing an All Japan Representative.
