There are very few features which set Miura Tadahiro's art style apart from the generic general anime art trends.
Following trends don't mean you can't exceed them. Art is so much more than line thickness or greytones. There is also stuff like composition, character design, clothes design, postures or showing feelings in the character faces by simple gestures. Simply said: I find his artwork gorgeous and detailed. Takamagahra had every week one pages that was extremely detailed and somehow stood out. Koisome felt always this way. There is probably another batch of talented artists, but at least in Jump it was a while ago to see something comparable. [Okay that was a lie. Shokogeki is also especially well drawn...]

And then again, Saeki Shun was Miura Tadahiro's assistant... He even calls him Miura-shisho
For me, those two have the best art in Shounen manga (that's my opinion and I'm not planning to start a discussion on that...)

And for a supposed veteran of the industry Miura claimed to be, his artstyle was exceedingly bland.
Ah that’s harsh man. Whilst I agree that it wasn't unique I'm also in agreement with others who thought it was good. Sure it wasn't anything ground-breaking but it certainly wasn't bad or uninteresting. It’s like unique art doesn't necessarly equate to good art, or generic/common art doesn't neccesairly equate to bad/forgettable art. Momoji was in my opinion a perfect example of the latter. I really liked the colour pages for the first chapter and some of them double spreads were kawaii

That’s from the oneshot right. Im of the opinion that the one shot was substantially better than the series, I wish the actual serialization took after the one shot more, same goes for Iron knight. The Iron knight one shot was amazing and the series just paled in comparison. They removed so much of what actually made the one shots impactfull

There are very few features which set Miura Tadahiro's artstyle apart from the generic general anime art trends. For example, he gives his characters very thick, even bushy, eyelashes. But the overall proportions, composition and direction hardly stand out. What exactly do you find appealing about his art?

On the other hand, I admit his proficiency with screentones.
Looking at the lineup of anime for this season on Crunchyroll, there's different styles for many of them.

there's moe-art like
some of Black Bullet, Usagi, Kanojo

or art from
Nanana, Chaika, Captain Earth, and Brynhildr

art that's a bit diverse at times
Mekakucity, Nisekoi, Kawaisou

or art that's a bit more plain like
Baby Steps, Matsutaro, Ping Pong, Isshukan Friends

For a lot of panels it looks like it would sorta fall under the second category I made. It's not moe with those big eyes and sorta chibi faces, not minimalist.
On certain panels concentrating on the girls, especially closeups when they blush, there's a lot of detail put into them. Especially the hair, weirdly enough.
The screentones too.

It's kinda a given that faces would have a similar proportion and features unless you have a rather different art style like Boichi or the Isobe guy.
If you look hard enough at anything, you can argue there are similarities, but we're talking about some minute differences here.

I'm not used to explain my artistic tastes, most of the time I just like a style and I don't look for a techinical reason or something like that. I've liked Miura art since Koisome Momiji oneshot CP. Besides my personal tastes, what makes me consider an art good is the capacity to make me recognise it with a brief glance; in short, when the artist manages to create his own style.

Could anyone who has access to private WT raws for issue 24 (ch 59) confirm if this is true? (checking the last page preview text)

ステルスドベ1でめっちゃ嬉しくて声だしそうになったあぶねえ
トリガーはドベ4だったよ後ネタバレスレにも書いたけど番外編
It confirms Stealth being in the bottom and it says that WT is 4th from bottom up and a bangaihen chapter

RoFL so WT increased by one rank? Ch 53 is being ranked right? Looks like people didn't really care for the apperance of the
Humanoid Neighbors
Let's see if the series ranks back to 9th place next week if not how long it'll take for it (looks like fun)

Looks like it's only partially right. Stealth Symphony is still at the bottom, but WT is 6th from the bottom.

As a reference, Hinomaru Zumo started off as a oneshot from the Spring 2013 issue of Jump NEXT, the same issue that included Keitai Shojo, iShojo's precursor oneshot, and Tadahiro Miura's High Spec Lovers.

It looks like it'll be about a "dramatic high school sumo".

Man, I knew another sports series was coming to the magazine. But I guessed American football, for some strange reason. I should've guessed more domestically. If I did, sumo wrestling probably would've been my first guess too, given how experimental Jump's gotten with new series these past few years.

Best case scenario: The next big wrestling manga since Kinnikuman.
Worst case scenario: Slightly better than the Smoky Butterfinger BBs.

Illegal Rare colour page kind of suggests that there is some sort of undue favoritism going on behind the scenes. I guess the author has some allies on the editorial board. Typically a manga of its caliber wouldn't be receiving such medal of honours. One has to wonder if he really should be spending his time colouring these pages instead of reexamining the mangas many faults and trying to sort these issues out over the course of the upcoming chapters as a general rehaul in both storytelling and style could put it on a trajectory for success while offering a refined story to help diversify the Weekly Shonen Jump portfolio.

A sumo manga is an odd choice as well as they should be focusing on soccer or baseball. We definitely can state that this manga wont be making its way westward. In any event I dont see it lasting due to being a sport that is just not popular in the modern and contemporary world.

Given Jump's recent track record with "western" sports, I'd be way more inclined to look into a manga with something different, like sumo, before I would soccer or baseball. But I usually avoid looking into new series unless it looks like they'll stick around. That's why I can't bother speaking to the debate regarding this latest batch.

Haha, sure. Keep those negative vibes going, buddy, not that you can probably even read the series beyond the first four chapters.

Tokyo Wonder Bonkers and the great Smoky B.B.Q. Need I say more?

So I guess Rurouni Kenshin and Hikaru no Go never made it to the West despite basing themselves among elements of Japanese culture.

I'm honestly surprised there aren't more series based on Japanese sports. Now that I think about it, almost every one I know is based on a Western sport except stuff like Hikaru no Go, so this would be a pretty good way to make Jump's lineup more diversive. I should go check out that oneshot and see if it's any good.

Not safe, just safer. WSJ is trying to preserve it, similar to what they did with Kurobas until it became popular (bonus time to rise up in other words). Can't say I am surprised seeing that NuraMago also got special treatement.

Exactly. Look at the bright side, SharkBait. At least the CPs might not mean so much anyways.
